Was listening to the WRNN morning show - a caller announced about 1/2 hour ago that there will be a meeting of all persons concerned about the economic after-effects of the Harley Rally (whether pro or anti-rally):
Tomorrow, Wednesday May 20, at 2PM at Revolutions, Broadway at the Beach.
I haven't heard, seen, or been able to locate anything OFFICIAL about this yet. If you find anything, please post it and any further details.
According to the caller, this will be the start of an organized attempt to seek removal of City of Myrtle Beach officials.

It is on page 2C in Tuesday's Sun News, under the "In Our Towns" column. It was online but has disappeared. It says:
Don Emery, owner of The Dog House bars, plans an open forum for business owners and employees angry over the decline in business during last week's Harley Davidson Cruisin' the Coast spring rally. Emery said the forum begins at 2PM Wednesday at Revolutions, 1320 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach, and is open to all. Emery said there will be guest speakers, but others are welcome to speak. For information, call Revolutions at 444-8032.

Went to the HELP meeting and you had a hard time getting inside Revolutions. There was electricity in the air. Man you could just feel it. The beginning of a class 5 tornado heading straight for MB Proper. Words like clean sweep, all must go, and the hundreds of millions of dollars lost were soup de jour. It was an amazingly different group of people. The sentiment to get rid of Rhodes and company crossed all lines. Didn't matter who you were or what you do. BOOST and HELP seem to be on the SAME PAGE with different agenda's but like goals. I am excited to see grass root politics in its greatest and purists form. The Mayors actions with approval from the City Council and City Attorney have devastated MB in what was a cash cow before their actions. I guess 500,000 tourists telling everyone plus the ones in the road block trying to get to MB and the numbers just keep growing of unsatisfied customers who will not return and will spend No Dimes In 09 was not considered. The locals are Absolutely in a Not A Dime In 09 mood. One can only ponder as to why there still 1 year later is no clear plan to replace this lost income. What is really devastating is the bad publicity because of the Mayors media campaign. I have heard that alone to be in the hundreds of millions. I guess the real answer is the business owners at this meeting saying 70% off. For anyone who had as much as a Lemonade stand those numbers are staggering. This is the accomplishment of Mayor Rhodes .

Mayor Rhodes tried to kill the goose that lays the golden egg but he only wounded it. I think it can be brought back to being healthy again. Thanks for the firsthand update, freebird.

The goose is alive and well. It will only get better from here. Now the Mayor and some City Council members and City Employees are in their political fight of their lives. They will be consumed just trying to get re-elected and re appointed. The Rally Promoters can now get busy promoting and organizing the Fall and Spring Rally while the City tries to fight single member districts and lawsuits. As for the Locals it is time for some much needed local flava and some back road ridin. Sky is blue, beer is cold, tea is sweet, and the women are hot. What is not to like.

It was reported on the Sun News biker forum that at today's meeting business owners were asked to drop their memberships in the Chamber of Commerce. That would be a good move because the Chamber sure ain't doing anything for them. Is there any way to follow up on this?

Freebird, Thanks for the post. I had the opportunity To meet Mr. Don Emery At his Doghouse South Location. As I have said in the past I will support his business. I find him to be level headed,Sincere, and to the point on many issues. I also found that his Character to be intact. I feel that if He were to run for a Public Office that he would have the best interest of the residents and businesses of Myrtle Beach in mind. It will be interesting to see How Boost and Help develop in the future, and to see who will support them.

On the Sun News forum some of the bunch there are saying that they will just stay in the south and north and be happy and not fight the cause. Guys like Big E, Newbie, Outhouseking and others don't want anything to do with our fight. I told them " It's like any war, some fight for the freedom and the others reap the benefits!" ;D

It just shows that there has been a lot of damage done, locals and tourists alike, and it will take a long time to repair it.
