Wow, it sounds like this grass root movement is really going after their throats! That is what I like to hear. My part in this fight is going to pick up here very shortly as I put together another letter to mass send across the eastern U.S.
Bird, thanks for being there and reporting on how it went. Talk to you all soon!

Hey Bo, I`ve been reading your posts since you first arrived on the Sun News forum and you come across as thinking you`re the saviour of bike week and I knew sooner or later your mouth was going to overload your a$$. Before you go making statements like the one below you`d better get your facts straight. I was involved with this crap from day one, I attended every city and county council meetings except two, I even attended the NAACP meeting. Did you post this remark on this forum thinking I wouldn`t see it? Be a man and also post it on the Sun News forum. I suggest you get down from your high horse and let bikers choose their own way to fight this battle. Sometimes children should be seen, not heard. On the Sun News forum some of the bunch there are saying that they will just stay in the south and north and be happy and not fight the cause. Guys like Big E, Newbie, Outhouseking and others don't want anything to do with our fight. I told them " It's like any war, some fight for the freedom and the others reap the benefits!" ;D

I agree that a campaign to inform Chamber Members that they are being neglected by their own is a solid way to tear down the MB empire. Brad Dean reeps the benefits of the taxpayers (even Statewide) to "promote" Myrtle Beach tourism. If that is the kind of promotion members will stand for then they deserve to go out of business! It truly is "Time for a Change".

Everyone but Tom Anderson the Public Safety Officer of the City of MB need to go. CLEAN SWEEP.

...Guys like Big E, Newbie, Outhouseking and others don't want anything to do with our fight. I told them " It's like any war, some fight for the freedom and the others reap the benefits!" ;D This is Big E. You told us that alright and you were way out of line. I don't know who newbie is but Outhouse and I are doing (and have been doing for a long time) our part in a number of ways. I have been at the meetings and spoken up too, and pretty much dedicated my column to calling these guys out and defending Bike Week and bikers since day one (see: www.thesunnews.com/weeklysurge/Ridin-with-Big-E/story/898621.html There is a link to the archives at the bottom too.) I don't like to toot my own horn like you do, but in my own defense, I have been involved in the motorcycle community here for years...probably since before you moved here so get your facts straight before you start shooting your mouth off.

Hey guys; you don't want to help regain control of the City and want to go someplace else, go! I'm going to do what ever I can to make the City of Myrtle Beach Biker friendly by tying the north and south ends together again. I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with anybody, that would be down on a level and childish. you'll probably trash me in your next article but I don't care, just get your facts straight. I'm all about Veteran's Rights, Biker's Freedom & Biker's Rights. SC says we can ride Free; MB says we can't, I have a problem with that!

I've been saying all along what Don Emery is saying now but you chose to belittle me & now you want to belittle me again. I know all these people & let me tell you you couldn't win a pissing contest with someone elses unit plus you are childish. I've done alot more to promote biker friendly business in MB than you can imagine & I don't live in the city. So get back on your horse & stick with battles you can win.

hdgoddess,
I'm really disappointed in you and your hubby.
Last Friday, about 6PM, I was 2 bikes in front of you guys while stopped in traffic behind the stop sign that crosses the northbound lane of 17 in Murrells Inlet to go southbound onto Business 17 near the original Beaver Bar.
I even turned around and shouted your husband's name - but you guys had apparently already changed your minds, moved to the right, and went straight ahead on 17 south instead (probably to cut over to the Inlet farther down the road?).
I believe we'd only met once before - briefly - at an occasion at Softtails about 3+ years ago. I was hoping to at least say "hi" and introduce myself last Friday...maybe some other time. I ran into DynaDaddy a couple of months ago and enjoyed speaking to him as always.

...I'm sorry you're disapointed in us... Well, it was a joking remark - I should have put a after that line... ...I even saw you at The Broken Spoke taking pictures & talking to Dr.Bluze.Next time I see you I'll make it a point to speak at cha... Yep, Tuesday - I've been meaning to razz Bluze that just as he was walking out of sight, the "revenuers" were walking around the other-side corner (as I posted pics of in another thread). I'll have to review my other pics from there to see if you're in any of them...

Outhouse and the others have been fighting from the very start of all this BullS hit. I know this for a fact. I too have been to all the different meeting and have had a long talk with Liz G. So before you open your mouth again you better get all your facts correct before writting another post.

I hate to see any bickering among ANY of us. Outie and others have indeed been right there in the middle of the fight. In fact, Outie and his wife were even right there at forums and other events when certain elected officials were CAMPAIGNING for office.
I understand what Beachbikers - my neighbor, a fellow City of Myrtle Beach resident, and really nice guy - was getting at, but I say we all have to understand that ALL OF US are fighting what the city officials have done.
We are all just doing it in VARIOUS ways: some the same, some similar, some different - and ALL that will have a COMBINED effect that will eventually defeat these officials and resolve the overall situation in a reasonable way in which the people and businesses AND the tourists and resident bikers will benefit.
If we ALL did the SAME thing, I think it would be easy for the city to focus in opposition, However, if we fight them on MULTIPLE fronts, with various methods, they will eventually lose for sure:
Boycotts that show that they got exactly what they asked for - without their considering the consequences that WE predicted and warned them about. Defeat and necessary modification of various new city ordinances - that the city enacted without their considering the consequences that WE predicted and warned them about. Bikes STILL riding in the city but NOT spending money. News media covering our efforts and the negative consequences of the city's actions. CONSTANT "feedback" from bikers at council meetings, civic events, AND in their "personal life". The NAACP STILL getting on the City of Myrtle Beach DESPITE the city caving and appeasing them a couple of years ago - which, in my opinion, was the INITIAL mistake the city made that put all this in place. The fact that city council members, mayor, and all other key city officials WILL realize, if not already, that THEY JUST WENT TOO FAR by trying to ELIMINATE these events (especially the Harley Rally) instead of MANAGING problems.
It's OBVIOUS that city BUSINESSES have recently taken an active role in opposition to the city. Same for residents, as they see the negative effects of city actions, blight of this city that extends WAY past "the economy" and MORE pending tax increases. And the MEDIA is COVERING all this.
We all play a part - actually, VARIOUS roles - in this change of tide. The City of Myrtle Beach - using excessive and outright unconstitutional laws, IMPROPERLY-CONDUCTED and UNSCIENTIFIC "surveys" that produced INVALID results, outright public lies and claims, no city-input tax increases, lying and misleading on taxpayer-funded websites, lying and misleading in taxpayer-funded radio ads, blaming BIKERS for the negative consequences to city businesses when we complied with THE CITY'S requests, etc, etc, etc - certainly hasn't attacked US with just one front or method.
We all just need to stay UNITED, and CONTINUE to POUND the City on ALL fronts. We each have our roles; we each have our tactics.
It's what it will take to defeat a machine that is well-funded and powerful - but relies on city residents, city businesses and a media that keeps seeing more and more of the light about the DESTRUCTIVE practices of the eroding City of Myrtle Beach every day.
