I think we all know that all eyes are going to be on the Harley Rally this year. I suspect the local media are going to be looking for every little infraction of the law so they can blow it out of proportion in support of Rhodes and his clowncil. It has already been seen that the UNNEWS (sunnews) is biased towards the mayor and his followers. We need to spread the word to have an exceptionally trouble free rally this year. If ABBW turns into the riot that I am suspecting this year it is going to harm us all. The only good that could possibly come of this is if the Harley Week has less violations than ever and the known problems with ABBW are brought into public view rather than pushed under the rug as in the past. It won't do either rally any good if this happens, however it may point the finger where it should have been pointed in the beginning. All should know that i am not racially biased, however we all know a lot of ABBW attendees don't even ride and that could be a lot of the problem with their rally. That and the fact that law enforcment has been told to look the other way on too many issues for too long. That is my thoughts. What does everone else think?

According to the threats on some of the threads the ABB bikers are saying they are going to reek havoc when they show up. If Atlantic beach tries to cancel that rally they are going to need MB and NMB cause as small as that town is it 'would be bulldozed. I've never been to the ABBW or Atlantic beach I'm just stating what I've come up with from the sun news and other boards so I'm not ANTI ABBW or prejudice just stating an opinion from the presented evidence. If they show and do what they are threatening we are all (Anyone on 2 wheels) going to be in trouble.. Just a guess but maybe MB and NMB and maybe HORRY are trying to help AB get rid of the ABBW and offering some type of help as in protection services? The Harley folks can police themselves. I can step in a break up a disagreement between a couple of bikers (maybe) but if you step in and try to tell a couple of sport bikers (blacks) to chill and not necessarily the bikers as much as the hoopty car drivers then its racial and they are both coming down on you ... I know several bikers that go to ABBW every year we need to spread the word to them to police their own (the good ones anyway) and just hope for the best. they go into NMB and trash it like they do MB and next year will be a repeat of MB this year. Maybe the NAACP needs to come in and help out (yea right I know) ... Anybody else have any ideas.

Thank you for bringing this very Important point up. i have just been picking up bits and pieces from here and there, then read gilligaf1's post on another thread about the threats of action and decided maybe the topic deserved its on thread to point out the importance of proper behavior, especially this year with all thats going on.

Way back when the mayor came up with his new ordinances, I said that I would like to see the Harley Rally be held the first week of June so that they new ordinances could be tried out on the Memorial Day Rally first. It will be very interesting to see if they are enforced equally.

It will be very interesting to see if they are enforced equally. That is a major curiosity of mine also. I am thinking that they are planning to come down hard on Harley rally as they have through this whole process and then turn their heads during ABBW out of fear of NAACP. I Don't think they will be able to turn their heads on ABBW this year as they have in the past.

Exactly, bigbuck. However they handle the Harley Rally, they will have to handle the Memorial Day Rally the same way.

Big Buck, we will stressing abiding by the law for all Bikers during our May Spring Rally here in the Myrtle Beach area, especially this year. We have been getting good responses from all over the east coast from people coming and finding out the truth but what's really going on here in Myrtle Beach. Some even want to help the cause in any way they can and we stress abiding by the law and wear a helmet and drive through the City all you can to cause traffic but not a disturbance. If you have a noisy bike to avoid the City. As far a Atlantic Beach or the Black Bike Fest, since it seems that there are no sponsors and Mayor Rhodes and Tom Leath of Myrtle Beach seem to be the ones to be responsible for buying them out rumor has it that it doesn't look good for Myrtle Beach. They will be coming anyway and with vengeance. www.rollingbluethunder.com/blackbikeweekonline.com/home.php

The wife and I usually make the trip to DC for Memorial Day but this year we will be here. This year should prove to be very interesting. I hope that there is a huge turnout for Memorial Day weekend and they all obey the laws.

Mr geezer sir that is the best that we can hope for this year. It would benefit all greatly to have a large law abiding turnout at both rallies this year.

Just seen and ad here in the charlotte area about mb being a great family destination. Maybe someone should start a ad campaign about how bad the crime rate is there, when there are no kind of events going on.

quote" pulled from another threadI found this little gem on the blackbikeweek.com website. "I dont give a f*@k what they say. I am a grown ass man with a license to ride. That means I go where the hell I want. My s%$t is already paid for anyway so I could care less what a muthaf*!@er has to say about it. Its my vacation, I will take it where I want. If we act civilized then they should have nothing to say. BUT If Police down there start harassing people who are doing the right thing, to try and discourage us from coming back next year, its gonna be a lot more of a problem than they are ready for." www.blackbikeweek.com/showpost.php?p=199449&postcount=7 quote" This is the mentality I'm talking about if it happens all 2 wheel riders are going to pay.. According to some of my "FRIENDS" at the state house alot of lawmakers are waiting and watching the bike weeks this year and its going to determine alot about the way things are going to be handled in the future. Toads and his clowncil dont really know it but they are being watched as well. The state economy as well as the local economy is being affected by all that is going on. The fact they are trying to get rid of so many tourist is going to affect the state income as well cause of the gas taxes, interstate commerce, sales tax, etc that the state makes on the rallies so they are not real happy but are going to be watching. If we or the ABBW show up and start alot of BS it is very close to us having a manditory helmet law and possibly emission tests on our bikes thru the epa so please as I have been doing advise everyone to behave and obey the laws or we will all pay the price for a few. I for one have been riding for 30 years helmet or no pipes or no dont bother me its just the fact of friends and freedom and 2 wheels. So spread the word not to blow it..... Not a dime till the end of time ;D BOURIG 4 Wheels move the body 2 Wheels move the soul

I have checked out some of the forums on the BBW websites and i get the impression that at least some of the more seasoned attendees are on board. I have read comments that the problem is with their younger croud and the nonriding attendees. Even read "wont spend one dime in 09" on their site. the more seasoned individuals seem to realize that both rallies have their problems, and some have pointed out that a lot of their problems are a result of the nonriders. Also read that the harley croud had their out of the way locations to get "freaky" It may be just me, but I got the impression that a lot of them aren't exactly happy with what ABBW has turned into but it has become a tradition to them and they will still come. Hopefully these individuals will spread the word throughout their attendees that this is a year to tone down and stay within the law.

Dilligaf1 We have heard the same. The Mayor and Chamber from Daytona has done our side very well and the AP has picked up on the fact that 650 million was deposited in that town with a lot of SC license plates in town. Daytona 500, Bike Week and Spring break has people asking why not our State and businesses. However if bad behavior is the case here in May it will make the Mayors point and diminish our gains in the Media. I would strongly suggest we all spread the word that the participants behavior will likely determine how we have to live here as bikers and if the will be a Rally. Lets make the Mayor look like the Pompous Ass He Is. Not A Dime In 09

Here's another of my oddball observations - the 2 most publicized "disturbances" last year were both started by so called "Locals".. One was a local college student shot another student (IIRC -- though I could be wrong), and another was where a local man, driving drunk, ran over and killed a biker on 17 near Dixie Stampede. (my details on these are a bit fuzzy - it's been a long weekend). So it seems that there were no major disturbances from the bikers last year? The Horry County After Action report didn't mention anything major, either. So, even though the HD rally participants are behaving, the city council feels the need to punish us for the behavior of its own misbehaving citizens? I can only hope that this mayor, who seems to suffer from cranial rectalitis, does not get re-elected when his term is up.
