Sec. 19-127. 6 In consideration of current demands on public resources made during the month of May, no special event permit, noise variance, or facility use permit with outdoor vending or food or beverage sales, as otherwise permitted by law, may be issued from May 1 through midnight of May 31 of every year. I'm dying to see how the city gets around its ordinances on this one!
Can the existing events even go on with the ordinances?

Seriously? How on earth can you make an ordinance that clearly states that so long as it is not biker related it is ok? Anywhere we can see this video online??

That clearly confirms the discriminatory nature of the ordinance against bikers Yep - if you look at the comments on the Sun News-linked article, you'll see this one I posted: "Rangemaster45 wrote on 02/19/2010 01:06:47 PM: Joeee wrote on 02/19/2010 12:11:12 PM: "in light of what Justice Donald W. Beatty said at the helmet hearing I find it hard for the city to issue permits for one event but deny another. This is selective tourism with out a doubt"
Which reminds me of something I thought of when I first read & commented on the above article this morning:
I have no doubt that the City of Myrtle Beach will not act nor officially consider ANY special events permit for May - despite the current status of the ordinance & any attempt to "refine" it - until they have received, read, & carefully analyzed the text & tone of the opinion that the SC Supreme Court issues with the pending helmet ordinance decision...
Yea, Leath & Ellenburg - you're surely seeing this ... & KNOW I'm correct."

I cannot imagine that the good folks at PETA think much of Chihuahua racing and they certainly are not fans of Petco and national pet store chains, whom they consider to be puppy mill butchers. It sure would be a shame if they showed up to the Cinco De Mayo festival to protest the "main event" of the festival. I wonder if someone has made an effort to contact them and let them know of this atrocity? Those interested in contacting PETA and letting them know about this abomination may do so at the following link: www.peta.org/about/c-email_peta.asp

I'm not sure if a chihuahua race is an "autrocity", I'm sure it is in good clean fun. No worse than a hunter running several dogs after ducks....
