Making Your Dollars Count
The Biker Ezine and other interested biker rights activists in the Carolinas are beginning work to create a database of businesses in Horry County that deserve continued support from bikers and those that deserve to be boycotted. We are especially interested in the business interests of those who supported the discriminatory city ordinances passed with false hopes of killing the bike rallies. This would include but not be limited to businesses owned by city council members that voted in favor of the anti-biker ordinances. Please submit Pro and Con Horry County business lists accompanied with the reasons why or why not to support each of them. We will post the information to share with all interested bikers.
Just a Little History About Trying to Kill Bike Rallies
Myrtle Beach became a large rally after several decades of being a small biker weekend thanks in large part to the City of Daytona and Easyrider. During the late 80ʼs and early 90ʼs Daytona did all she could to end her Bike Week. Easyrider let the secret of a small Bike Weekend during May in a little town in helmet free South Carolina and the rest is history. Myrtle Beachʼs Bike Weekend was big fun back in the day when most of us bikers camped at the drag strip and avoid the main drag in town. Most bikers actually rode their bikes to the beach back then.
Laconia tried in vain for over twenty years to end Motorcycle Week after the riot at Weirsʼ Beach. This effort continued through the late 60ʼs, 70ʼs, and 80ʼs. However Laconia Motorcycle Week is alive and well today. Despite Daytonaʼs attempts over the years to kill Bike Week it has grown bigger and spread across Central Florida. The original biker rally in Myrtle Beach is a senior citizen that predates most if not all transplants now opposed to it. The City Council of Myrtle Beachʼs current efforts to end the bike rallies will likely just lead to spreading the rallies over a much larger area.

Another tip for keeping your feet warm
I read your e-mail and another tip for warm feet comes to my mind. If you wear wool socks and leather boots that do not touch your toes meaning shoes that are too big. Your feet seem to stay warm. I have also purchased soft lowers for my 2008 Road Glide. They attach to the engine guards and keep the wind off your feet along with blocking the wind causing the heat from the engine to rise up around your legs and lower body and keep you a little bit warmer.
Just my two cents worth. I enjoy your e-mails. Keep them coming.

Myrtle Beach Shafts Bikers
I see Myrtle Beach has shafted the bikers, I went up last year and it
sucked with restrictions. I had already decided they could stick it
from now on. This just further made my decision for me. Now we need a new
Biker Rally someplace in the state since this one had died and they
cut their own throats for millions.
