Haven't heard much, what's going on with the run off election? Is McBride still campaigning, any new issues going on, who's Elmer Fudd. What about the SC Supreme court, any news on that front. Don't hear much up here in NC, can only rely on the UNnews paper and they won't tell it straight. BIRD, RANGE, PAN, anyone with some promising news WHAT"S GOING ON in MB OH NO!!! Not another Walmart, He!! we've got 5 super Wally Worlds here in Cumberland County( Fayetteville area), the most of any county in the USA. Pretty soon that's the only place we'll be able to shop Attachments:

So far not too much new on the election that I can see. The signs are still up and WRNN our talk radio station is carrying ads for some of the candidates. I haven't heard any ads for McBride, most likely he is waiting for the last minute to get the most bang for his limited bucks. Some TV interviews (WMBF) at least, also with the candidates.
The online forums have been very quiet (as you can see here) I wonder if most have grown weary of the whole thing or what? I believe that The first election had a better than usual but still dismal voter turn out.
I'm sure that someone will swiftly correct me if I am off the track here.

The only misconception is your statement is on voter turnout General. It was a mere 37%!
My attitude at this point is that it's obvious that the people who reside in Myrtle Beach proper just don't seem to give a d**n what goes on and who steals their money. They don't care that Tourists are driven away. They don't care if I come in to the city and spend my money. I'm satisfied with that. I can continue to support any and all outside of the city limits. The Grand Strand is a big place. I'm "Doing it again, in Twenty-Ten"

I'm with you Stern.
37% turnout in the city hands it right back to Rhodes et al.
As a non-resident property owner, I have no say, except to vote with my wallet. This year, we still came down, supported the boycott and didn't even stay at our place in MB City. Had a great, as far as I see it LAST RALLY on the Grand Strand. I gave what I could to HELP and BOOST and what did we get...NADA!!! Same for the forums, seems no one seems to give a nutsE anymore. So Goodbye MB, luckily the proerty I own is a time share and I can trade my week, this year Daytona for Biketoberfest, same next year. For the Spring we're off to Panama City.
Truthfully, I expected more of the good people of MB. When McBride made his stupid comment, every MRF ( ABATE etc) got involved and got him out. Now, seem no one cares. I'll miss MB, but I think I'll get over it real quick.
Not a Dime for the rest of time. RIP Myrtle Beach

Wolf I understand. Been kinda quiet lately. If the people of MB dont care enough to get off the couch and vote then this Veteran has options. One of which is to enjoy retirement and avoid MB except for those few businesses I choose to go to. Just went to Carolina Beach NC for 5 days to surf fish even tho I can drive to the beach here in 20 minutes. The people there couldn't tell me enough how much they appreciated me coming there and the locals told me many of their private fishing spots. First time in town and was made to feel special. Nice place if you like a natural beach that you can still drive on with plenty of other access for those without 4x4. Reminds me of Cape Hatteras only smaller. As far as the Rally I think you attended the last one here. I see no one promoting one and I have lost any interest I may have had. Past that if I attend a Rally in 2010 it will be in Panama City and or Cape Hatteras for the Outter Banks Rally. RIP MB. I'm done with you and I live here. Be well all and see you on the highway of life. Anywhere but here.

This AM on WRNN heard ad's for Rhodes and McBride. Rhodes situating himself as a fatherly type who needs to continue his works. McBride was very direct and hard hitting with a staccato list of what he professes to do. Welcoming tourists whatever their means of transportation, representing all of the residents, a referendum on the 1 percent tax etc.
Hope springs eternal!

Bird, I sympathize with you and understand your feelings; I’m sure they’re other’s who feel the same way, however this give up attitude is what Rodent and the clowncil want! The people haven’t spoken yet, let’s wait and see what happens with the run off. If Rodent wins then MB can dry up and blow off the face of the map, if McBride wins we’ll have to see just what he plans on doing, if his first order of business is to repeal most if not all of the 15 ordinances then he may be a plus to MB again, we’ll just have to wait and see I guess, Lets not stick our chin out just yet and take it!! My feeling is this: we are making pans on attending the "Grand Strand Rally 2010" as usual. But the new slogan "Do It Again In 2010" will be in affect.
I think B+M cycles summed it up very eloquently: FUMB

I agree with Classic53, our group is planning on attending the "May Grand Strand Rally 2010" regardless of who wins the election...
I'm hoping McBride wins, but if Rhodes wins reelection I can't feel sorry for you lazy ass people of Myrtle Beach that complain but won't vote...
Around 9,000 eligible voters didn't vote... WHATS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE?
In 2009 we did a complete boycott of MB City and will do it again in 2010

Truth is & has always been not enough people live in MB to make a difference. Last night we attended a Mark Mcbride meeting & it was all good but it's gonna take more than a new mayor.Just who or what group is going to step up & steer the masses? I really feel for the working class inside the city because it seems they're on their own.

Thanks Bird, I too have a choice to make.
Like I said 9,000 just don't care. Feeling for the working class isn't the answer, WHO is trying to get them out to vote, certainly not HELP, Trevor said he's out of money and basically sounds like he doesn't care either.
Rally in 2010??? Doubtful , a gathering of bikers likely. If you haven't checked the Dealer's website has no mention of the "Rally", so without a sponsor, ther likely will be no organized "Rally". Obviously, Shank & Schoonver have been bought off as well.
That being said, there may be hope in the future. Like MB, Daytona a few years ago went through a similar thing. After losing TONS of money in the shoulder seasons, the Chamber woke up ( not very likely with Dean in place) and pushed the City/area to change their minds. Now in Daytona, everywhere you ride all you see are signs saying " You're Back....We're Glad" and a ton of Welcome Bikers signs. Will this happen on the Strand maybe, but frankly only IF the entire strand feels the loss of income. Will this happen...maybe.
Keep in mind that the Chamber is the Myrtle Beach AREA Chamber of commerce, but everyone links them to just to the COMB. They are the true driving force behind this nonsense. So, only by pushing ALL their members, by depriving them as well of income will anything happen. That's why I'll take my money elsewhere next Spring.
Even if Mark and Lowder win, will this really change things??? That's only 1 seat on Clowncil and the Mayoral spot. IMHO, that won't change the climate they just won't have the votes or clout to afect change. Remember the bikers were the ones that "nudged" Mark out of office, is he really our ally? Only the continued decline of the Strand economy will drive these bufoons to change their ways. Then, will they welcome us back or choose another direction (Casinos) to rebuild. Only time will tell.
