From today's Sun News "Letters to the Editor", I wish this guy - and his wife (see the last line) - would join this forum. Unless he already IS here, of course - they'd probably fit right in: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GOLFERS' TURN
No one seems welcome in MB
The wife and I moved to the area two years ago to enjoy our retirement in a warm and welcoming environment. We are motorcyclists, and I am a golfer. Now Myrtle Beach has made it abundantly clear that as motorcyclists, we are not welcome because as a group, we are loud and dangerous. I thought, OK, I'm hurt, but I can live with that. Now Thomas Brennan ("Loud dissection of game unpleasant to others," June 18 letter) has proffered his opinion that golfers too are loud and obnoxious. Couple that with the report several weeks earlier in The Sun News that a domestic dispute was resolved by one spouse assaulting the other with a golf club. Now I suppose golfers are to be considered dangerous, too. I can only imagine that the city leaders will soon be enacting new legislation to ban golfers or, at the very least, require us to wear mufflers over our mouths and soft protective coverings on our golf clubs within city limits.
I guess I'll have to give up all the things I enjoy. At least I'll have my wife, unless, of course, loud and dangerous women are banned, too.

As geezer said, "EXCELLENT"!
This should be passed on to the SC tourism bureau to let them know how their "golden egg" is treating it's tourists and the people who have moved down here to retire after they have visited here.

Well get them phone dialing If you catch one , and if have time wait and see if anything happens ... To view CONSTANT and BLATANT ILLEGAL golf cart operation - just go to Myrtle Beach's Ocean Boulevard. ESPECIALLY at night - ALL night - and the section from about 7th Avenue North southbound to the Crown Reef. See how many golf carts you see - mostly from local hotels/motels - on and crossing the road, after dark, with NO lights on, NO (required) SC state golf cart registration permit, etc. AND - observe how Myrtle Beach police patrols SEE THEM but roll right on by without doing a single thing about it. Why? The standard response is that it’s an unspoken directive to leave those businesses alone - "they're just trying to make a living". Yet, the City of Myrtle Beach bans motorcycle events - causing economic losses of MILLIONS of dollars, mostly via those SAME businesses! Another thing that is WRONG with the City of Myrtle Beach - and needs to be corrected in upcoming elections...

SC Golf cart laws require the $5 permit, Must carry liability insurance and upto 2 miles from home (secondary roads only) with no night driving. Lights, seatbelts, turn sigs are not required. I bring mine to the beach with me every year to run around the campground and quick trips to the store..
