Did Weiner happen to tell you all, he's related to the chamber . Oh yeah, and he's on their board as well Guess he'll pocket from the increased tax as well. I love this video clip, someone finally asked Wayne Gray WHY HE PLACED WELCOME BIKERS on his restaurant signs, while voting against bikers being in MB EVERY TIME! DumbA** Wiener appeared to be shocked that people knew?? (a little red faced as well) WTF? I guess the little Wiener had his head in the sand or up the mayor's Whoa-Who. What a stupid little person he is.... MBSC3??? Come back to post your moronic crap. Tell us how great your business did and is doing without the bikers. Maybe you can get your wingman to help out, since he's made so much more money this year off the bikers. Now you ALL know what we're dealing with here..... He can't answer for his actions, and never could! [glow=red,2,300]It's time to roast the Weiner out of office for a 2nd time.[/glow] here's the link..... videos.thesunnews.com/vmix_hosted_apps/p/media?id=4284149&item_index=&genre_id=00000877

MB Council passes penny tax and hear only the comments they want to hear during today's meeting. NOTE FROM ARTICLE- Birgit Darby, a PINE LAKES RESIDENT, said, “I was just happy that I could sleep, I slept, during the Harley week I slept every night and was never awakened.“ Maybe this guy thinks he's moved to a retirement town. These days it's more like a RETIRED TOWN. I hear the city's sponsoring a 1950's festival. I suppose that's the last time this group had a good idea. One good point here is that Councilman Wayne "the snake" Gray wasn't even born in the 1950's, so he won't be allowed to attend the stroll down memory lane. www.scnow.com/scp/news/local/grand_strand/article/council_passes_penny_tax/52738/

In other words, lets punish small businesses so that the people of Grand Dunes won't have to pay $21,000 in property taxes for their 1.4 million dollar home. (Source: www.zillow.com/homedetails/8295-Leone-Cir-Myrtle-Beach-SC-29579/80968046_zpid/)7 I went up to Breakers.com to see what a 7 night stay would cost me. This is for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Subtotal $1,213.91 Tax/Fees $192.74 Total $1,406.65 The extra 1% tax would bring the taxes for that room over $200! In times of tough economic conditions this is going to result in three things. a) people shorting their trips b) people eating in and not going out to the restaurants c) people not spending as much at the retail malls The MBCC is making poor decisions based on greed and not logic. </rant over>

You know, I watched those 2 videos and I am at a total loss of words! I just don't know what to say anymore. Those so-called "elected" officials have no clue what logical thinking is and how to do it. They have no business sense at all. They are complete and total morons!
The city of Myrtle Beach is doomed if they are NOT voted out of office. The sad part is they will take the rest of the Grand Strand with them.

Not only do these political hacks need to be voted out, but a RICO investigation of the relationship between the city council and the chamber of commerce needs to happen here. This looks like simple extortion!

I can't believe how Gray sidestepped the question about his signage, and then the Mayor refused to take any more questions or comments because "We've heard enough." I guess he really does not care about what the people of MB say or want.

Basicly the afternoon council meeting was a Dog and Pony show.

Basicly the afternoon council meeting was a Dog and Pony show. The local news covered this issue with Brad Dean from the MB Chamber a while back. Dean said he was so sure that the tax would be passed that the Chamber had already started their ad campaigns. Slam dunk for both sides of the same coin, as they are merely separated by names.

Ghost You are on target with this and remember the other 3 taxes passed as well. NY City did this some years ago and we moved our meetings to another state. We usually had around 300 people or around 200 rooms with catered events for the week. The savings was considerable. As a side note the association never went back for meetings and neither did we as tourists. The same will happen to MB.
Considering the fact that NMB and the South end are cheaper and have the same sand the business community has been put at a competitive disadvantage with their neighbors and are not on a level playing field. John Rhodes has set back MB 10 years. That word is getting out and is the reason that room rates in MB have plummeted. This will not end well. I wonder if the Chamber will use the money to fund the radio adds discouraging people from coming to MB

Concerned1 It was obvious that these people ( Mayor & Council ) couldn't care less about the working class in MB.You are right as this was a done deal. This meeting was only to satisfy the Sunshine Laws. I have not ever seen such blatant corruption but have not lived in the Chicago area. I would not want to have a business in MB for the next few years as this unfolds.
As a side note single member districts will go a long way to rectify the situation.
Thank you for your posts. Bird
