But hey, they are just following orders and citing the law breakers. Wonder why there weren't more bikers cited. Hmmm Maybe we don't break the law as much as SOME people think. Ya think?

HD Thanks for the heads up. Did you ask why they were there ? Yes I did, they were checking permits. Trying to justify their overpayed jobs. Doyce has been catching grief for weeks.I'm sure our county officials had a hand in the IRS being there. Maybe they'll stop by MB City Hall and check out their books. Seems McBride mentioned several times that there were millions of state dollars unaccounted for? but wait, some of that went to B&C as usual, wonder where the rest went??

... i wonder if the officers at the enforcement level are more on our side than we think. Absolutely; almost every MBPD officer I've spoke with - as recently as last night - has TOLD me so. One MBPD officer put it best. He stated (quoting best as I can recall it): "There are two reasons why they made us do those roadblocks. The first was so that the city can do them again when the black bike week people come to town next week and not have them be able to say they were singled out. Of course, my fearless leaders don't give a d*mn about how it effects harley guys or anyone else.
Why? Because even though the Harley people DIDN'T CAUSE any traffic problems, NOW the city can say it HAD traffic jams during the Harley week just like you see at black bike week.
Of course, the CITY CREATED those traffic jams on the boulevard with the one-way traffic pattern and the checkpoints especially on 501 - but in the city's eyes it's just something that was caused by the Harley rally going on. It just isn't right what they're doing and how they're doing it - and I WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE." I wish I would have recorded it. Remember, it came from a Myrtle Beach city police officer.

Range, from what I saw while I was there it appeared that the county police might have had the same attitude. saw them out in great force Tuesday evening on !7 bus s but they appeared to be mainly harrassing car and truck drivers. I think city and county PD know the real problems and don't necesarily agree with the tactics that are being used, however they took advantage of the situation by targeting and irritating the car and truck operators, which will bring on complaints of harrassment from the non-biking community. If a biker gets out of line, it needs to be addressed, however outright discrimination and stereotyping such as the city has done is not called for. I personally think the local law enforcement did us justice by "following orders" and enforcing the laws with a tight reign, yet not targeting us out of the croud just to harrass us. I personally think they may have intentionally targeted out some car operators that they would otherwise have looked the other way. just my thoughts from what I observed during my stay there

I would love to see a breakdown of citations written during the week ie number of motorcycle citations verses number of automoble citations. I would be willing to bet that breakdown will never be unveiled
