Just thought I would share this incident that happened this morning. My wife and I were on the bike headed from home here in Conway to Garden City to meet and have breakfast with some local and some out of town friends. We were on Hwy 17 Bypass and had to stop at the stoplight at Glenns Bay/Holmestown Road. A lady in an SUV was in the left lane beside us and lowered her passenger side window and yelled to us, "Thank you guys for coming! Please come back again!" We smiled, waved, and thanked her. We didn't have time to tell her that we were locals and we knew what she meant. The light changed and everyone was off down Hwy 17. I did think it was pretty neat that this lady was doing this to all the bikers that she saw. Not everyone hates us.

...We smiled, waved, and thanked her. We didn't have time to tell her that we were locals and we knew what she meant... What a coincidence! That same woman did the same thing to us farther up the road. My wife had just enough time to reply: "Why you're very welcome, MRS RHODES! By the way - how was the honeymoon?"

That's funny, when we left the stoplight my wife remarked how nice that was. I told her that it must have been Rhode's sister.

Actually, had it happen again last evening in Conway. I was able to meet and shoot the bull with Beachbiker yesterday in Conway (he and Mrs Beachbiker are very nice people) and we were outside looking at a friends bike and someone stopped in the street and welcomed us.

Everytime I have been out since Friday, cagers are giving me the "thumbs-up" and waving like they couldn't wait for me to get here! Ya... OLD PEOPLE TOO!!!!!! Can't wait until the dust settles and all of the locals come out with their clubs looking to lynch the Mayor. You hit them in their wallets and they don't forget! I wish I could go into the City and see the tumbleweeds blowing around Broadway! SWEET!!!!

Thanks Geezer! Glad we finally got a chance to meet the family and everyone made us feel like one of the gang. It's really great when a big group of people can get together and be there for one another like you guys. Thanks for the great night & great friendship! We're looking forward to future gatherings with all of our new friends! Beach

They wont forget the businesses that we as bikers are spending our money at are across the river and the cash box is ringing. In the South and the North it is very busy. Now who would have thought that the North and the South would team up against MB...

I am home now, however, all locals I encounterd from sat to this morning were overly friendly and either thanking me for coming or warning me not to go into the city. Early Sun morn wife needed to go to Wallyworld and when we came out the people in the vehicles on either side of us warned us about the city and advised us to stay away from the city. Wish I could have stayed all week but I have work to do. Upon leaving this morning, I was sitting at the light waiting to go and I looked over my shoulder at my wife and said, " I can't stand it, I'm going in". With that i made a right and rode up 17 business straight through the city with lid on.MBPD picked me up at the safe zone turnaroun and followed me to farrow parkway and the peeled off. There ere more bikes in town than I had assumed there would be. Several local pedestrians waived as i passed by. i made my little noise in town and came home.

Buck, Glad you all had a good time and a safe trip. From inside MB Proper, I hear many bikes riding around. Of course it's nothing like it normally is, but they're still coming thru every now and then. However, I haven't seen any restaurants that normally are packed by bikers, have very many guests. If you listen to the news and the MBCC they believe that their new laws are only hurting businesses that cater to bikers. WRONG AGAIN! They're actually hurting their own neighbors and friends. I believe these folks will start to speak out against these laws very soon. Seems bikers have one thing in common, they mean what they say. Apparently, those who are riding thru are adhering to the moto.. "Not a Dime in 09"

BigBuck, we enjoyed having you here and hope you come for the Fall Rally in October. I know Rolling Thunder was going to flood the City with traffic but not wear their colors and they also had a plan to rent every moped available just to ride side by side to tie up traffic during the later part of the rally. So you see we all have our plans down here to piss of the ones that made it ruff for us this year. In the long run the Bikers WILL WIN!
