Helmet laws to go before Court Feb 3.. it sure is a shame that not all the laws local and county are not taken before a court on the basis of prejudicial treatment of a particular group of people. This is similar to treating black, Mexicans, Irish, Italians, Germans, or any other group in a manner that is not consistent with treating the entire citizenry the same. Look at all the local laws, how they forbid everything from parking on the street to more than x amount congregating in parking lots. These rules are fine on their face but, exceptions are give for every group, municipality or agency that asks for them except bikers. I take this as a back door way of enforcing a form of segregation, meant to segregate bikers from the rest of society. Its only my .02 but its COMMON SENSE.

You're right & Myrtle Beach SC is a highly racist community. John Rhodes would discriminate against Michael Chestnut's mother if he thought it would help him out. Michael Chestnut is the "token" city council member who has no problem in turning his back on his community.

Moe The City has certainly excluded themselves from the laws and also gave the Hot Rodders a free ride as I explained in the City response from Mark Kruea. In all fairness the City put the word out on the Toy Run that there would be no tickets issued for Helmets and I rode in the Toy Ride and a good part of the day lidless in the City and was not hassled. Having said that there is no question that the helmet and most of the new ordinances were aimed at one group. We will have a decision soon and no matter the outcome I hope someone organizes a ride. ;D

I'm not quite sure I would take this as far as the inequalities that blacks, mexicans, women, germans, etc... have had to endure.
As far as helmets, I 100% believe in free choice, the city NOR state should tell me what to do.
As far as the police, I think MOST are very good people. If they wanted, they could write tickets non stop for speeding, no turn signals, aggressive driving, etc... and that goes for bikers and cagers.
I ride a "loud" bike but I appreciate the quiet and I don't rev the engine (unless a cager is bearing down) and won't ride through developments at night, etc...
Just my .02

But it really doesn't matter as toward who, discrimination is discrimination anyway you look at it and rodent is the biggest raciest around I'm really surprised that the NAACP hasen't raised a big stink on this matter unless there waiting to see what the Supreme courts decides Attachments:

I feel the helmet law is strictly aimed at the HD crowd. The guys and girls on the sport bikes all wear full face $400.00 helmets and they wear them into the gas stations and convenience stores. It is like a badge of honor. Matching leathers as well. Most of the other laws are aimed at both types of riders. Wrangled me a ticket to the show. Cant wait to go to the Supreme Court and tell my kids that Bird was there. Will report after what I hope is celebratory dinner.

A group of laws that are put into place to "hassle" is pure discrimination. I have said this before and I will say this again. If this helmet law does make it, well, we as a free society are on the verge of anarchy. I know that sounds strong, but think about it. Other municipalities will look at this and write laws to satisfy their needs. This whole scenario could open up a big can of worms. Here in Pa., the capital, Harrisburg, just banned cell phone use and texting within the city. Presently, the state has no law about that. Sound familiar? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the ban, but the principal of it is scary!
Here's another little tidbit about states and their laws. Look at how Ca. passes all these stricter pollution laws and now all the other states are joining. How about them requiring all big screen tv's to use less energy? See, what some people mandate is shoved down "our" throats!
I know this sounds kind of off beat and absurd, but in reality it's already happening more and more across this country.
Sorry, that's my .10 cents worth.

Hi my name is Anthony Spinnato and I am residence of this fine State of SC.. My question is ? How can State of SC allow City of MB to break the State law SC-56-7-80-B Which states Ord Summons can not be used to regulate mva admin action SO all the ord summons written by City of MB for helmet ordinance are against State law and they should be prosecuted to fullest extent... This is not about helmet issue this is about a State law that is being broken by the City of MB and they need to be held responsable for actions and prosecuted... If you expect citizens to follow rules so should City of MB... Thank you for time and awaiting answer... Anthony Spinnato ajsnighttrain03@yahoo.com 843-359-3014

Train,
Ironic that your reply came from Constituent Services telling you that they do not serve you as an individual "Constituent".
