John Smithson, NMB City Manager, is talking out both sides of his mouth. The recent deal cut between AB, MB, NMB, and Horry County is completely unambiguous. In exchange for various goodies and subsidies, the others (and this INCLUDES NMB) want AB to kill BikeFest. On the surface, this seems unrelated to the HD Rally but it sure as hell is not. It is a good bet that one of the ways the other cities will want AB to kill BikeFest is by passing their own ordinances, and that isn't going to be in the HD rallies interest. It will spread like a cancer. I personally would want to hear NMB directly address this issue of their working to kill BikeFest, and why that is not a threat to the HD rallies in turn. Their little memo saying we love everyone and come spend money here did nothing to assure ME on this subject. But, maybe that's just me. I agree Their memo Does nothing to assure me either, However in my opinion, I think the AB Bike rally is the real target not the HD rally. I also think that is why CHDDA moved to NC, To distance themselves from the AB rally. If I am correct Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson is not a member of CHDDA. MBHD has spent alot of money getting ready for 09 Spring Rally, I am sure that is why they are putting the word out also$$$$$ Bikefest may be the target, but if NMB is going to get into bed with Rhodes, nothing good will come of it. If AB passes their own set of ordinances at the behest of MB and/or NMB, that will come around to bite everyone on the ass. IMHO, NMB can't have it both ways. They can't say they love bike rallies and then be trying to kill BikeFest, even if it is a separate thing on the surface.

The best description of a politician I ever herd was from the movie,The Hunt for Red October, When Scott Glen sat on the table in front of Alec Baldwin and said and I qoute, I am a politician, that means I am a lair and a theft if I am not kissing babies and am stealing their lollipops. Another good example of this is Wayne Gray, he welcomes bikers on the sign in front of his resturant, then votes to keep us out in council chambers. This is just my opinion. Thank for making me look deeper into my own thoughts. And you are right, if they all crawl in bed together it will be an ugly future for us. However I hope that we can make it bite them in the ass.

Pat, I just sent an email off to North Myrtle Beach to get clarification on their stance concerning bike week. Regardless of there answer we are still coming down in May to enjoy some warm weather and riding after a long and snowy winter in New England. I'll let you know what I hear from them. I finally got an email from North Myrtle Beach after I questioned them when I heard the news that they were joining Myrtle Beach concerning the Atlantic Bike week. Thank you for your recent email. The Harley Bike Week is still scheduled for May 8-17. North Myrtle Beach still welcomes all visitors/bikers. Enjoy your visit!!1 Have a great day! Charlotte A. I agree. It's much different than the first response I received when all this BS started. First response: Thank you for your email. The City of North Myrtle Beach welcomes you and other bikers. We will conduct this bike rally just as we have in the past. We just asked that all visitors to our City respect and obey our laws. The City will provide the necessary public safety personnel to monitor the flow of the bikers and visitors and promote safety for all. We appreciate your interest in wanting to stay with us here in North Myrtle Beach. For additional information, I suggest you contact the Harley Dealership at 843-651-5555 or their website at www.myrtlebeachharley.com Enjoy your visit!! Have a great day! Charlotte A. Bailey Information Specialist North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce We'll just have to wait and see how things turn out. We're still coming down and planning on enjoying ourselves just like in past years.

If you check the chamber of commerce event guide it is still listing the harley rally but not the ABBW. they even say it has NOT been canceled and provide links to MBBW. com ... ;D... Maybe they realize where the real problem is and are trying to coax AB to end it.. NOT A DIME IN 09!!!!! **BOURIG**

dilligaf1, I think you have hit one of many nails on the head, IMHO, I feel ABBW has been the target all along. You are 100% correct in your thinking, "The Atlantic Beach Bike Fest" or the "The Black Bike Fest" what ever name you choose to call it was the original target of this whole mess. During the AB or BB Fest it's a know fact that Myrtle Beach is turned into a street party. Mayor Rhodes and authorities have no control over the City and are attacked by the NAACP along with businesses on the Grand Strand. So the Mayor couldn't take care of HIS problem so he just attacked all bikers hoping to get rid of the Memorial Weekend Bikers (don't get me wrong I'm not sticking up for that ass). He chose to hurt good people, businesses and the tourist industry which means jobs and the local economy. What kind of Mayor is that? He knew he was failing at curbing the May Spring Rally so that's when he and Master Mind Tom Leath went to Buy Out Atlantic Beach. I have to give Retha Pierce credit because she didn't want any part of it, but her colleagues sold their people down the river and no rally for AB.

According to the threats on some of the threads the ABB bikers are saying they are going to reek havoc when they show up. If Atlantic beach tries to cancel that rally they are going to need MB and NMB cause as small as that town is it 'swould be bulldozed. I've never been to the ABBW or atlantic beach I'm just stating what I've come up with from the sun news and other boards so I'm not ANTI ABBW or prejudice just stating an opinion from the presented evidence. If they show and do what they are threatening we are all (Anyone on 2 wheels) going to be in trouble.. Just a guess but maybe MB and NMB and maybe HORRY are trying to help AB get rid of the ABBW and offering some type of help as in protection services? Just an idea into the situation but it's still NOT A DIME IN 09 BOURIG!!!!

I would love soooo much to gain national media attention on the laws and Mayor Toads and put him under the spot light, However If this transpires as you we think it may, it could be the last nail in the coffin. The attention that we may see from the media will all be one sided and negative and it will be due to an absence of leadership and for-thought,and the lack of ability to solve problems, reference Daytona Bike week. And this will bite us all in the butt.

I am a grown ass man with a license to ride. That means I go where the hell I want. My s%$t is already paid for anyway so I could care less what a muthaf*!@er has to say about it. It's really sad when you go down there, if only the buildings still standing could talk they could probably tell some wonderful stories. It appears as if it is mostly occupied by poor and homeless people. I don't think much of the town could be saved and would have to be rebuilt and probably with low cost housing so current and new residents would have affordable housing.
