FWIW, the city requested that the Harley dealership have events IN CITY LIMITS this year.
Harley responded by having the demo ride setup at the location of the old Myrtle Beach Mall (where the car show is).
I heard it was directly from the city asking them to bring stuff in to town.
Take it FWIW. But it is true, it is on Harley's website now that demo rides are at the mall.

Is this a scam to lure bikers into the MBPD check points? Surprise here is your excessive noise ticket, come back and see us again. Thank for vacationing here.

Well...actually...the Demo Team will be set up at the "Myrtle Beach Mall" (what the Harley and local MB dealership sites display) - which is the current name of the former "Colonial", etc Mall. That's the mall just north of the Route 22 interchange with Rt 17/Kings Highway (beside Hooters/Bass ProShop, etc), and where various vendors have set up all along. It's just a return to where they were 2 years ago - and OUTSIDE the City of Myrtle Beach limits. However - all things considered - I wish it WAS at the former Myrtle Square Mall (where the car show is this week - AND RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM WAYNE "THE WEASEL" GRAY'S SPRING HOUSE RESTAURANT City of Myrtle Beach location)!

Wow, I specifically asked someone at Harley and they told me they were setting up at "the mall they tore down off Oak Street".
And they even said city council asked them to put "some event" in city limits.
Then again, ask one person something at Harley and then another person and you get two different answers.
But this person has worked there for at least ten years.

Woody I have researched this subject a lot and can tell you that MB has not written the first noise ticket for a MC since lowering their standards. I have personally went through checkpoints trying to get a ticket and couldn't. I don't go to MB because it is a trashy and dangerous City and there is nothing there I can't get somewhere else. My Boycott is pretty much forever. However for those who want something in MB most would love you to come.

I agree with freebird. When they first put the rule in place they had "sound checks" you could go to to test your bike. There were a dozen police there, I talked to ten of them. All ten said they could not stand that there were noise rules in place and none of them would do the test unless they were told to do so.
In all my years of the rallies, I have always found the police to be very friendly to the bikers and very helpful and they go out of their way NOT to write tickets. I watch police laugh and clap at people doing burnouts in FRONT of SBB.
Now, act like an idiot, rev your engine like crazy late at night, drag race, etc... and you DESERVE a ticket. You know who you are.

We will be down again this year, I think this is 14 years in a row. Just wondering if they will ramp up the effort for bike week. There are times I would like to cut straight thru the city going some place else but if no tickets have been written then maybe I'll give it a try. We stay in NMB and have not spent any money in the city in the past 2 years, this year will be the same. My bike is loud but I don't like drawing attention to myself so I'll just putt on thru.

Range has his ear to the ground and would be a good opinion but mine is you will be fine. I have Vance and Hines 3in Bigshots with very little left inside and have not been bothered at all.

Hey bird, didn't you have some items in the store that went something like this:
"So easy a biker can do it". Then you had something else with it, but I don't remember.
Here's a new one for you:
"So easy a biker can do it, highway 31"
