I haven't seen any advertisements in motorcycle magazines referencing an October rally. I have not seen any vendor advertisements saying "See Us in Myrtle beach". The usual website is subdued, I couldn't find any listed vendor locations. No reference at all to October on Myrtlebeach.com. I'm just wondering whether to change my vacation time to October and go to Daytona.

If you want a Rally go to Datona or Panama Beach.

I agree with mountainrider that advertisement outside the couple older websites is non existant. Lakewood campground in the past sent me information on rates at rally time, but nothing this year. My girlfriend and I both ride and enjoyed the area in the past several times a year, but the last trip, which was not during rally time, we both noticed the attitude seemed to be less friendly, and to us, it seemed to be due to the fact we were on motorcycles. We both have stock pipes, usually wear bright colors and try to be respectful, but its easier to go where people are friendly.

I read about the various "Leaders" blaming any tourist spending downturn on the "spoiled brat Bikers" who have chosen not to come to MB or are very selective where they spend their hard earned money. Once again they try to spread downright lies as though we are gullible enough to believe them. They told us to "Go Away & stay away" .....and lots did!
A number of their influential constituents pressed this issue on them, They took what they thought was the easy/smart/politically expedient path, choosing to dump the bikers (they are just bikers after all probably few even bother to VOTE !) in favor of their constituents.
After the last few "rallies" it sure seems as though those wanting to enjoy the traditional rally fun would be best advised to spend their money elsewhere. Unless of course a "Ghost Town" themed rally in a hostile place is to your taste.

A few day's ago I sent out two emails , one to the HD dealer in MB and the other to Sonny Productions which put's on some promo for the Rally asking about any planned event's and vendor info . Haven't heard back from the HD dealer and don't think I will >:(but I did get an immediate response from Sonny!!! ;D See next paragraph. Good question the bars are doing a few bands and a few vendors and we are doing our rides out of Cooters in Murrells inlet this fall and next year. We are going to have a lot at Cooters next year for bike week and throughout the year. The Harley dealer created most of the problems and now seems to be pulling out.
All events are in North MB out on 9 or in Murrells inlet.
Have a great time and hope to see you at cooters / sonny

Sunny is right as Mike Shank ( Festival Promotions ) and the local HD shop caused most of the problems in my opinion as well. Phil only cared HOW MUCH MONEY HE COULD SUCK OUT OF THE RALLY PARTICIPANTS. Two friends just bought 2 new Ultra Classics and even tho the MBHD shop is minutes away both drove all the way up to Shallotte NC HD to purchase them. The majority of locals have NO USE for the MB HD
As far as a Fall Rally it will be nothing more then a slightly busier then normal weekend. If that is to your liking come on down. If you want a Rally go to Daytona for Biketober Fest.
