Heavyweight Champ Wants Myrtle Beach Mayor in the Ring "James "Bonecrusher" Smith, former heavyweight champion of the world, wants to get Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes in the ring with him..."
"...I'm going to hit you real hard one time," Smith told Rhodes at this morning's workshop..."
"...Smith, who defeated Tim Withersthingy to win the WBA title in 1986, now lives in Myrtle Beach and visited the City Council for this morning's workshop..."
"'I'm not asking you for any money,' he told the city...I just want...give me the mayor." www.thesunnews.com/2010/08/10/1629730/heavyweight-champ-wants-myrtle.html

By the way - The Sun News chose the perfect picture of Rhodes to go with the article... ;D

Sounds stupid, publicity stunt and would actually put the Mayor in a good light.

Personally, I'd rather see John Rhodes and Wayne Gray step into the ring against each other.
After all: - Wayne Gray has experience at hitting a Myrtle Beach mayor. - It would probably be a preview to the next City of Myrtle Beach mayor race - Rhodes versus Gray - and those 2 will certainly PULL NO PUNCHES to finally publicly reveal all the (plentiful) dirt on each other in that one...

I just posted the following response to the Sun News Online article: -------------------------------------------------------------- "It just dawned on me who Rhodes resembles in that photo: the "Pointy-Haired Boss" in the Dilbert comics. Maybe THAT should be Rhodes' "ring name"? But the resemblance does NOT stop there. A Wikipedia character description of the "Pointy-Haired Boss" fits Rhodes PERFECTLY: "...He is hopelessly incompetent at management and is very bombastic. He does not understand technical issues but always tries to disguise this, usually by using buzzwords he also does not understand. The Boss treats his employees alternately with disdain or neglect; he is narcissistic, using them to his own ends regardless of the consequences to them. Adams himself wrote that 'He's not sadistic, just uncaring.'...His utter lack of ethics, however, is perfectly consistent..."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dilbert_characters Yep - that description IS both the "Pointy-Haired Boss" AND John Rhodes!!!

OK, it's a day later - and still no comment from John "Rocky" Rhodes?
Maybe someone told him that Wayne Gray (who actually has EXPERIENCE hitting a sitting Myrtle Beach mayor) is "Bonecrusher's" manager. If they truly want to make it a publicity stunt, why not go all out and get Wayne Gray's Fuddruckers parking lot city-employee "companion" to be the ring girl?

How about if we all make a donation for "bonecrusher" and give it to him in a envelope! Oops, did I say a donation in a envelope?
