Respect is someting too many people lack these days. Its good to know someone other than myself still has it. Thats why I ride alone most of the time. Most people I know that ride are otherwise good people for the most part, but seem to lose a lot of their respect when they climb on their bike. Can't understand that. From what i have read on here I think everyone here still has it, at least for those who deserve it.

That means the helmet law is still in I guess. I assume that is the only decision made so far and they are still debating helmet issue. Don't know. Sun News seems to have restricted some access on their site.

Looks like the judge decided to do nothing, since no tickets have been issued, and the laws are not being enforced yet. Not a good sign, but I'm still hopeful.

If this thing goes thru, can you imagine ALL the "laws" the towns will start enacting? It will be ANARCHY at it's finest!

Sun News reports that the Judge didn't make any favorable rulings. Ordinance stands as written. City Council had first read today to eliminate need for "sticker" stating exhaust is legal?

The judge gave a time line of how we got to wherever we are. He also stated that the court case is going on regardless of his decisions. An appeal has been drafted for todays decision. Most agree this case among others will only be settled in the Supreme venue for all cases. The City lawyer was asked about probable cause and talked about novelty helmets or no helmets. The City stated towing is $75.00 maximum. Tom McGrath argued many things from the standard the City is using for helmets and the fact that you are guilty until proven innocent. Also the General Assembly of this great state gave riders over 21 freedom of choice in regards to helmet use. This replaced a mandatory all rider helmet law. This was passed in 1980. Additionally this state has uniformity laws. I was surprised at the judges ruling on the helmets. The noise ordinance was to be talked about at a City Council meeting today. There was talk of dropping the EPA sticker/approved part of the language. It is my understanding that the City motorcycles could not pass the noise ordinance. The way the helmet law is written as I understand it there are few if any legal helmets. There is no testing facility in the State of SC. What is probable cause ? I would say at this point that it is highly probable that these laws among others will be MB law during Bike Week. I would suggest to all who have a MB City reservation to consider writing the City and get written confirmation to any concerns you may have. Bear in mind the City Attorney stated this was about safety. Really. Maybe he should read the City letter ( In references section ) and the City propaganda site. They are a means to an end and that point is clear.

Not exactly what we were hoping to hear from todays procedings, but not the end of the world, at least not yet. Even though I am not a local and I can avoid MB and still enjoy the rest of the grand strand, I have the deepest regrets for our brothers who live within the city limits and cannot avoid this communistic behavior from their local government. Keep faith and pray that justice will prevail in the end.

I just spoke with Tonya Root at the SunNews about the discussion board. She said the newspaper has changed over from (MyrtleBeachonline) to (Sunnews.com) and the posting board is temporary off line, but will be back up and running soon....

I spread it every chance I get. Even many of my customers who do not ride believe that this is unjust behavior from government on a local level. Many have stated it makes them think twice about ever going back to MB even though they do not ride. I had a condo salesman call me from MB while back about 10:00 AM one morning. I told him I was boycotting. He asked if he had already called me that morning. Said I was the 5th call that morning who was boycotting. That was just at 10:00 AM. Word is getting out.
