Sunday, I ran into - and got to spend some very cherished quality time with - many of my friends. Many of them also participate on this and some other local forums. Everyone seemed to ask me the same questions: when can vendors start selling, and when does the Rat Hole (and other venues with special event permits) start special activities? The answer is - TODAY (Monday).
In previous years, vendor and special event permits were for 10 days, so these were already in effect on the first Friday of the Spring Harley Rallies.
However, this year they are only 7-day permits - thus the Monday start. This is not entirely fair to many venues, however, as many of them did not have any activities on the final Sunday of the rally (most bikers packed/packing up and leaving) - so it's really only a SIX-day permit for most venues. This issue/concern is being addressed to Horry County. I mentioned about the Rat Hole, and want to emphasize something about this year's activities there - THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEE THIS YEAR, as opposed to the one-time $10 fee that was imposed the past 2 years.
There MAY be a nominal parking fee for NON-motorcycles, but ADMISSION AND BIKE PARKING ARE FREE AGAIN AT THE RAT HOLE.
More information on their venue - rodeo and other activities - can be viewed at:

I look forward to seeing many more of you throughout the coming week, and making many new friends as usual...

I won't be going to the Rat Hole. Charging for two years, well, that just put me off. Sorry, I'll spend my money on the south end. We pulled in there last year, we had about 11 in our group, and we all just turned around and pulled out and all of us vowed never to go back.
