Here is the text from an email that I just got. Where were they when all this started? Here is the email:
A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO OUR BIKER FRIENDS Dear Valued Guest,
We at the Sea Mist would like to express a heartfelt message specifically to our biker friends. Since Sea Mist opened with 9 rooms in 1954, we have genuinely enjoyed hosting guests with diverse interests from all over the country. In addition to our biker friends, we've had the privilege to get to know golfers and Shriners, cheerleaders and church groups, sports teams and family reunions, to name just a few of the special groups that have become a part of the extended Sea Mist family. As you can imagine, each group poses its own unique challenges, but also gives us the great fun of being honorary participants in someone else's vacation.
Though we hope it goes without saying, we at the Sea Mist are disappointed in the direction the Myrtle Beach City Council has taken with respect to motorcycle rallies. Some things have changed with the implementation of new City ordinances, and we, of course, have no choice but to comply. The one thing that will never change is our sincere appreciation of all the bikers who have visited with us for decades. Our doors remain open to you, your friends and family anytime, 365 days a year.
In the simplest of terms, "We love our bikers!" Always have and always will. Sincerely,
Leigh Meese President Jim Leach General Manager

Very nice response from them, but my question now is, where were they last year when all this started? Now that they realize exactly who is hurting and how much is the eye opener. But they should have realized this last year.
My .01 cent

I'll add another .01 cent. I'm guessing that their reservations are way down for May. Those families are just not booking the rooms like the mayor said. If the Sea Mist and others had banded together at the start of this, they might not have to be begging for business now. It's probably too late now.
Not A Dime In '09 seems to be working. Now they will have some proof to take to the mayor and show just how much his arrogance has hurt the local businesses.

I would still like to know who the mayor is going to fill the hotels at this time of year. Our daughter-in-law is a teacher and they have classes into the first week of June. And kid surely don't want to miss schoolduring May due to finals.
Does anybody know anybody, other than bikers, who is making reservations for May there? Just a general question.

I think they were advertising for EuropeOn's before the economy went to hell.

The Mayor can not put the Heads in the Beds as promised. We get these types of requests daily and they get the same responce. Fix either your geographic or your political problem and get back to me. Anotherwords move your business outside MB or get rid of the Mayor. Boycott MB it is working. NOT A DIME IN 09.

The best thing to do is to flood the City with law abiding bikers and that will piss off Rhodes, City Council and the "Take May Back" bunch and inconvenience the Q-Tips to point that they'll want their tax money back that Rhodes stole from them for all this not to happen. You don't have to spend a cent in the City just pass through or ride around. There's allot of riders that have helmets, I for one that live in the City along with many others and most out of state riders traveling from north to south will do it.

We dont have to spend any money in MB to ride down Hwy 17.

At least twice everyday or all day! Maybe switching shifts in both directions from Murrells Inlet to HB Spokes. The Q-Tips will be fuming!

But they should have realized this last year. My .01 cent Where were you when the city tried to get rid of black bike week? While the "not a dime in 09" does have symbolic meaning, it will have little effect on the businesses in Myrtle Beach. Look at how many people boycott Walmart on principal, wally world seems to be doing ok to me. Yes, the businesses of Myrtle Beach are going to be making less this year. It's a recession and everybody knows it. But the truth of the matter is the beach was packed for Drop Jaw. Hotels are selling out on the weekends. Foreign workers are already in town and getting ready for their summer jobs. There isn't as much doom and gloom as a lot (including myself) were expecting. I heard from about a dozen business owners this week that the pavilion has finally been sold. I'm still waiting on something solid, but if it's true, the mayor will now be fighting a war on two fronts.
