So Myrtle Beach cancelled its marathon. As a goodwill gesture - I propose that we approach the City of Myrtle Beach and offer to have a charity MOTORCYCLE ride on April 3rd 2010 . Details: - Same route as the marathon. - Same activities and support mechanisms by the City of Myrtle Beach as for the marathon. - Same entrance fees as for the marathon, with the total amount to be divided 50/50 between: charity/charities of the biker's choice and for the city's ACTUAL, DOCUMENTED, VERIFIED, CERTIIED expenses of employee overtime/safety mechanisms/other NECESSARY support devices. - Not a "race" for speed, but trophies awarded to those who best display clothing and/or decorations supporting their particular charity during the ride. Judging performed by a panel of BOOST and HELP members. Etc, etc, etc - I'll provide a few other suggestions about this later. OK, fellow ibiker participants...your input?

For me it would depend on the Charity. To raise money for the Wounded Warriors I would do it. Maybe to pay for bringing them back for Freedom Fest or Military Appreciation Days. Just some thoughts.

I say f**k MB, the same way MB said f**k the bikers,
this could just give MB something to spin and take credit for and try to make hay from,
we all know how the Un News spins everything into a favorable story about the mayor and C.C.
What kind of support system do you need for a 26 mile motorcycle ride, except maybe some cops at intersections, with their ticket any motorcycle you can attitude.
For me, my attitude is BOYCOTT CITY OF MB FOREVER or until the City repeals all the ordinances and makes a public apology to the bikers
What about doing something similar, but outside C of MB, like the same charity ride, but from, say, NMB to SSB, to send a strong message to City of MB they are deliberately left out of the loop.
The City of MB started all this crap, let the chips fall where they may.
The voters approved of what the city did, they reelected them ...

MB residents have spoken with putting the good ole boys in for another term, they must agree with the way things in the city are being done. So as for my family, we will be using the 31 bypass again this year and the boycott of the city is still on. I don't believe you will ever get an apology from any politician in MB. Hope the helmet law gets overturned for you locals, the courts sure are taking their time. Ride safe.

The day may come that MB and bikers get things patched up. From where I sit The first gestures need to come from MB.
I don't see the present administration ever admitting that they were wrong, thus a change there would have to be first.
Since the city gave us the "Bums Rush" they would need to find a way to reverse this and the very hard feelings that resulted.
That said, I am not inclined to make any gesture of reconciliation until such time that MB reversed their present policies. A transfer of lipstick marks from them to where I sit would seem like a good start in that direction.
It might be a case where things have to hit bottom HARD before things can start looking up, and I don't know if we have reached that point as yet.

Without the Rally or a substitute in the Spring and if the Runners do what they are talking about coupled with far less snowbirds this year hard bottom might be 2010

For those of you who have responded, I'm sure most if not all have noticed the "wink" emoticons (and their particular placement) - and have "read between the lines" in order to detect that I had a hidden agenda and ulterior motives with that first post.
Sometime soon, I'll reveal the REAL intentions of that "gesture"...
