First. Bikergal. Most of the angst is generated by the fact that MB overstepped its bounds by enacting a helmet ordinance in order to rid the town of Bike Rally's. At the onset, many of us locals, felt that the new laws were nothing more than a big EFF-FEW towards us. Biker nature took over. They don't want us, fine, we'll go where we are welcomed. Really, quite simple...

Okay, now.. Lots of good views. I firmly support driving right down Mainstreet in LARGE numbers every available chance. Of course, never stopping to spend money (until the "Tourist Tax" issue is resolved). Also, Bird makes all the sense... Myrtle Beach has made it very clear that they neither welcome or want our money and will go to great lengths to prevent us from enjoying the same hospitality that is given to Camper's, Golfers, Sports Enthusiests and Canadians. I'll spend elsewhere. They can wallow in Freestyle and Market Commons all they'd like...

Looks like they can't wallow in Freestyle anymore, shutting their doors today.

After living here & working in Myrtle Beach for a long time,I'll be d**ned if anybody forces me out of the city.Kinda in your face thang,You know out of sight, out of mind. I'll continue to support the people & businesses that are biker friendly because they deserve all the support they can get.... Just my opinion:)

I pass along the following tidbit in that it is somewhat related to the question at hand. Year before last here in the People's Republic of Maryland, the legislature got on board with the "spread the wealth" train and decided to try and close budget shortfalls with a huge tax increase on millionaires.
The result last year (first year of implementation) is that 35% of them moved out of state and the net result to the state treasury was a loss of 100 M$ in tax revenues. This year looks to see the exodus continue. Now, some might say that those who chose to leave allowed themselves to be chased out of the state. Others would just observe that it is a big country and sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side of the fence. When faced with a hostile government or citizenry and no practical means to change the situation, sometimes it makes sense to change venues.

Just drive along Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach between 29th Ave NORTH and the far north end.
Notice all the residential "For Sale" signs; more than I've ever seen in that area.
Oh, and check out all the signs on the side streets between Ocean Blvd and Kings Highway too (that includes "The Dunes").
And they're most likely going to increase - which is probably a VERY good thing.

I am in agreement with the not going where I am not wanted. Didn't we all get several hurtfull lessons on this topic while in school? It's their city....I use it sparingly and spend as little as possible within its bailiwick.
The only drawback to voting with your feet is that those who stay behind get to put their own interpretation on YOUR actions and the ramifications.
