Okay, looks kinda' in the Bikers favor that the SC Supreme Court is gonna' overturn the MB helmet law. (Don't pregnant dog me out... I know it ain't a given!) Anyway, here's my question. Bike Weeks aside, if it is overturned, do we inundate Myrtle Beach proper every chance we get with a little run through town or do we steer clear and drive the spike home? Personally, the unfair Tax is more a thorn in my side than anything. What Say You?

I don't understand why people don't ride through it now.
I appreciate not wanting to spend in the city to make a point, but by not riding there you are just giving them what they WANT.
But if you ride through non stop and don't spend a dime, it is a lose-lose for them.
Not sure why people ride around Myrtle, that I didn't get.

My BIG concern about even crossing THEIR state line, city limits that is, is the noise thingy. My Rineharts TDs' will not pas THEIR regs, AND I will not let it sit and have someone do somehting to it while I go get a trailer. That's what concerns me the most.

Classic, I am with you on the noise thingy. That was my only reason for even thinking about avoiding the city from the beginning. However, I have somewhat overcome that and have ridden in the city every time I have been down there since they passed the ordinances. Mine won't pass either and I do have mufflers and I do pass my state inspection. But, I haven't been down this year like years past either. Saved that cash and had a little more HP put into the bike ;D I am concerned though that when the helmet ordinance is overturned they may really crack down on the muffler issue in retalliation. Just my thoughts. We will have to wait and see.

My bike is legally bought, properly registered, properly insured and had big shots installed before the bike left the showroom floor. At first I had some trepidation about the noise issue but now feel like I will be the next Supreme Court case if that is what MB wants. I ride through every chance I get.
As for Howard's question. I said in the beginning that I would see how the election went and base my decision on that. Accordingly I am done with MB. I couldn't care less if it looks like Detroit in a few years. If you have a business there I would suggest relocating across the ICW. Otherwise FUMB forever. I have replaced all the places I liked except Rioz. I ride through but seldom stop.

Bird, I must say I agree with you there. I can't say that I miss anything inside the city limits. Littlebuck does however miss Hard Rock Cafe for some reason. It never really impressed me that much so she will just have to get over it, or just take a cab there by herself when we come down ;D (did I really say that? :

What would we gain by agitating Myrtle Beach proper? We could be setting ourselves up for more of the same.

What would we gain by agitating Myrtle Beach proper? We could be setting ourselves up for more of the same. Those who can must legally maintain a presence as often as possible just to prove to them they they can't ban motorcycles from MB. A lack of presence would give them too much of a feeling of victory when in fact the city as a whole (all but the greyhairs) has suffered a great loss. Freedom to travel where you want in this country must not be restricted by small governing rhodents. But that is just my opinion
