Wouldn't it be a conflict of interest to have a HOG gathering here when the dealer's association has pulled out altogether? MB harley doesn't belong to the association either.

I'm not sure what the conflict of interest is there?? Why would any dealer in the dealer's assiocation support a HOG rally here after pulling out last year?

It seems as though a HOG rally would be a sort of apples vs oranges situation. Rather than the old come one come all to the MB rally it would be members only and only those members that pre-register'
Who knows though, it might be the sort of foot in the door that might get other factors moving in a positive direction.

This might save the "Grand Strand" event... Keep the "Sanctioned" events out of the city...31 makes for a very nice go-around (unless it rains suddenly!) to get to the south end, too. I am wary of NMB, though... My first bike week in 2005, they were doing "Baton-Checks" on bikes to look for baffles...

I wouldn't exactly start cheering that the politicians in NMB are all fair, honest and upstanding...

I think NMB as a whole has done a wonderful job to promote their part of the area, especially the NMB Chamber. They have been taking major steps in past years to get the word out and promote it properly a rally on the north end may not be the end off a Myrtle Beach area Bike Rallies from days past, but it sure is a sign that they know where some much needed torism dollars are and are welcoming it. Just my two cents.

Just my two cents. I agree. They have been testing Vertical Access Wind Turbines for some time and the Avista in NMB is slated to have the first one.MB doesnt know what they are yet. NMB is a very progressive bunch who seem to welcome all, explain the rules, and then manage. What a novel idea. And then there is MB who listens to the few powerfull and rich and then Legislates to the lowest denominator.

Unfortunately NMB 's city leaders are making the place quite un-appetizing to me based on the recent revelations of their personnel practices and openness.
Should this affect the HOG rally and or plans of other events? Your guess is probably better than mine. We may all end up in Atlantic beach and Murrells Inlet as long as the G-town County officials don't do something stupid like copying MB (which they seem to be leaning towards).
Howard Barnard is in the running for County council chair, I wouldn't call him an anti biker zealot but he is definitely not in our "corner". He did have the guts to speak at the Feb '09 ABATE Meeting (I think it was Feb)
And speaking of the HOG rally, Since this is only a segment of the "biker" population, what, if any positive impact do you suppose this will have on our current situation vs Myrtle beach and the anti biker forces? A foot in the door perhaps?
Hopefully a favorable ruling from the State Supreme Court will be forthcoming. If that happens what's next?

This is only my opinion but I think the MB clowncil have a back up plan, I can't see rodent and crew laying down for it. It's not pride but POWER that they want and if this goes against them they'll be looking for a way to retaliate against us. Just my opinion and I hope i'm wrong
