Classic After reading today where not only has The Chamber of Comedy not taken a strong business position for the Rally attendees they are now making fliers ect stating the City's position that they have ended the Rallies. In today's posts we have been called scumbags and worse and I assure you if there were any chance I would oppose sending out your correspondence it will not happen now. I say send them to all you want to. Let us know what if any response you get.

Mr. McDonald, I am a bit confused with the numbers, It says "Attendance was estimated at between 225,000 and 275,000, making for about a 10 times increase in population over the locals during the rally" My underatanding is the (City of Myrtle Beach) has a population of about 25,000 and Horry County has a total population of around 250,000 people...... Is it 10 times the pop. of Myrtle Beach City or double the pop. of the County?....Help Me ???

Hello to all. I've been registered here for a while but just now able to get in. Thanks Pat & Squeaky!
I have not spent a penny inside the Myrtle Beach city limits since August. They don't want me, they don't get my money. I know that I'm not going to make or break them but it's just personal for me. Anything that I need, I can get without MB's help. And when I eat out or buy something, I make it a point to try to speak to a manager and tell them that I could have bought it in MB but I chose to shop with them, and tell them why. Maybe if they hear this over and over they will speak out if their town council ever tries to do something like MB.
I don't know if anyone has pointed it out but, The Dog House North is outside the city limits. Mr. Emery stood up against council and I can still support his business without going into the city limits.

Geezer, you're not the only one who's an "individual" who won't spend any money in the City of MB. I have talked to many people who are doing the same thing. Alone you are one, together we are many! I hope the County doesn't follow the Cities example, but you never know. We do the same thing, sometimes we have to actually ask the employees of an Establishment if we are within the city limits and then explain why we have to go somewhere else to spend our money. Believe it or not, some people are actually clueless as to why it matters where they are located, so we educate them. Glad you in, Pat and Squeaky are GREAT!

Geezer Glad you are in. Great points. In todays economic climate no business would want to loose a single customer. If the Horry County businesses hear this enough word will get out. You may only be one person but you and I are two. And The Kaptain is 3. And Train is 4.And Dilligaf is 5. And Squeak is 6. Out of one came many. Not A Dime In 09

As much as I know Don doesn't own the Doghouse North.Don has 2 bars in the city,Dog House South & The Steel Horse. The Dog House North is part of group of bars out of Fayetteville.

Hello all, Geezer and others, I think that's a great idea to tell businesses why you are doing business with them. I too am on board with the No Dime in 09 boycott. I live in Va. and attend the HD spring rally for years with about 10-12 other riders, We have always (stayed) at the Compass Cove on 24th ave. S. MB city. This year 09 we have reservations at the Avesta in North MB... I called the reservation manager at the Compass Cove and told him about our change of plans and why, He said he's sorry to hear that, I suggested he take it up with Mayor Rhodes..... My daughter and her family live in Little River and I have a Nephew (A Harley Rider) that lives off 544, they are all supporting the boycott... Another concern, now that I'm running off at the fingers, I happened on a blog in the CharolotteObserver.com NC about Myrtle Beach doing away with the Motorcycle Rallies, From many of their post, they must be reading the new (and very misleading) MB City Web Site... also..... Thurs. a friend who lives in Sumter SC called me and said he read in their local paper the Myrtle Beach bike rallies are over, I explained what was going on.... My concern is that there may be a lot of newspapers picking up this story and the new "MB City Web Site" on the (AP) and reading the propaganda and think the rallies are gone.... I hope there's a way to get the truth out to John Q. Public....Doug

Doug, the city has done a good job getting their word out. I have a friend that lives near Sarosota, FL and he asked me about it. He had seen the artlcle and link in a motorcycle road racing magazine. I told him the truth and asked him to spread the word. My brother lives in VA also and he is getting the word out there, too. Since you will be staying in NMB, you can get on HWY 31 and totally bypass MB. That is good that you told Compass Cove why you were changing hotels. And make sure that you tell the folks at Avesta why you chose them.

Geezer On the home page of the site under Abate Statement on Spring Rally and Website is an open letter from Gary ( Horry County Abate ) concerning this issue. You may forward it to all you know. I sent it to all my contacts. I did not send it to anyone who has hidden their E-Mail address on the site as I respect one's privacy. If you wish to be on my contact list hit me up at mike@ibiker.org and I will add you to my contact list. Thank you for all your help. We are stronger together.

"Well, I can still go there since it's outside the city limits" Just wanted folks to know thw truth, wouldn't want someone thinking they were supporting a local biker when he doesn't own the bar in question.Alot of mis-information already in the biker community.

Goddess, I'm glad there are people like you who have the correct info to share. I guess since the names of the businesses are the same people assume they are owned by the same person. Thanks for clearing that up. Feel free to step in with any other info you may have that we don't have. Again, thank you hdgoddess.

Victoria, You're welcome.I'm very active in the biker community & have been since I moved here 15 years ago.I hate what the city is trying to do & hope the many bikers in Horry County can come together to keep the rallies going outside of the city. We have alot friends & family that ride & make several trips a year to the beach.I would hate that for any of these folks to get false information. It's hard enough to get the truth out for the masses
