I thought I would check directly with the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce to find out what their plans are for the Spring Rally. I sent them an email a few days ago and have just received their response. I have copied it below. Sounds like they're welcoming us with open arms. Thank you for your email. The City of North Myrtle Beach welcomes you and other bikers. We will conduct this bike rally just as we have in the past. We just asked that all visitors to our City respect and obey our laws. The City will provide the necessary public safety personnel to monitor the flow of the bikers and visitors and promote safety for all. We appreciate your interest in wanting to stay with us here in North Myrtle Beach. For additional information, I suggest you contact the Harley Dealership at 843-651-5555 or their website at www.myrtlebeachharley.com Enjoy your visit!!

Softail What a great, great idea. We are truly stronger together. You should contact every town and Horry County and post the responses. Maybe Pat can make up a special section on the home page and people can view the responses.

I contacted a few other city's in Horry County concerning the Rally, but so far I've only heard back from Conway. The following is the response I received. Sounds like we are going to be welcomed everywhere except within Myrtle Beach City Limits.
Dear Mr. Nixon, thanks for your inquiry concerning changes that our city may have made with regard to the 2009 Spring Rally. The City of Conway has not adopted any new ordinances or made any other changes that I am aware of pertaining to the biker community and I do not know of any that are being considered. We are proud to welcome law-abiding visitors to our city and hope you will visit or possibly stay in Conway when you make your trip.
With regard to what other cities are doing, I would encourage you to visit the websites for North Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, and Surfside Beach. You also may want to check the websites for Horry County and Georgetown County. (The minutes/agendas for Horry County Council would be a good place to look on the county's website.)
If I can be of further assistance, please advise.
Vicky Lefler, City Clerk City of Conway

softail I would like to put all the responses in one spot. Have you done Little River or Horry County. Any of the surrounding towns. We should put it up for all up to see so we can stay where we are wanted.

I sent the emails from my work computer. I won't know until next Tuesday if anyone else responded. I'll let you know.
Also, the biggest biker event website up in the Massachusetts area is bostonbiker.com. Someone has put in an event listing stating that the Myrtle Beach bike week has been canceled. I submitted another event stating that it was not and also sent an email to the webmaster trying to explain the situation and gave him the links to ibiker.com and Myrtle Beach Harley if he wants the details. I think that others should contact them also to make sure that they remove the cancellation notice.

softail u da man. on it. While the Mayor has my tax dollars and considerable resources at his disposal for the misinformation he doesn't have what we have. Millions of eyes. Thank you for being a set of eyes. We are stronger together. Can't wait to hear back. Has everyone checked out letter to the editor?

Awesome, softail.
Update: Bostonbiker has made a correction, stating the MB Rally is still scheduled, but they are discouraging people from attending!
Their comment...."Wait a few years...see how this year works out."
Hoo-boy

A couple years ago, Daytona tried to end the rallies there. Am I correct in this? I have never attended Daytona so I can't say for sure. Now if that is the case, did the mororcycle community roll over and stop attending Daytona? Again, I don't know. But if they still attended the daytona rallies, then why are they telling people NOT to attend this rally? I'm sorry, but I'm not going to roll over and give in to the "city"! My 3 cents on that crap of not attending!!!!

I contacted North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Loris, Surfside and Aynor concerning there feelings about May's Harley Rally. I only received responses from North Myrtle Beach and Conway, which I have already posted. I have not received emails from the other towns. I'll let you know if I get any additional info.

I contacted Surfside to see if we would be welcomed there. My wife and i usually stay in Surfside for the rallies and a couple of other times during the year. their response was you are always welcomed in Surfside. But it did take about a week for a response.
