Hey all, I hope everybody is well and getting ready for Thanks giving! I read yesterday where North Myrtle Beach is welcoming the biker family! Now there is some smart thinking on the part of the city council! They will welcome us who are being shunned by the city of Myrtle Beach! We should still boycott the city of Myrtle Beach after the courts declare the regs are unconstitutional. Let them have their "gated community". They didn't want us, and now Norht Myrtle Beach is welcoming us! The communities of the Grand Strand, but not the city of Myrtle Beach, will flourish with what the city has done to themselves. The city of North Myrtle Beach has renewed my hope in retiring in that area. Again, thank you the city of North Myrtle Beach for being level headed about this whole fiasco. Also, thank you the city of Myrtle Beach for not being afraid of the NAACP!

Keith and Carol Well put and very accurate. The Grand Strand is 60 miles of beauty with a small blemish in the middle. It is a wonderful place to retire and I hope you both come to that conclusion. There is some very affordable land and houses very close to the ocean. Horry County is a wonderful place to live and there are many ways around the City. And for a bonus there is a lot of those crazy bikers living here.Hee Hee. I believe and hope you are right about Horry County getting a lot of business from the actions of MB. That is the best thing that could happen is for EVERYONE to show up and Not Spend A Dime In The City. I can tell you for sure The Bird won,t be seen Downtown. Blessings Freebird

My wife and I have already made next May's reservations in North Myrtle Beach. We will be spending our money outside the city limits. We would only support those businesses within the city which have been OUT SPOKEN in their support of Bike Week. I would love to see a few restaurants and bars within the city have parking lots full of biker’s spending money while all the others remain empty. A list of those that support the rally, both within and outside city limits, would be very helpful for people visiting from other areas.

NMB has always been receptive to bikers and so is Little River (the next town up from North Myrtle.) We have some nice hotels in Little River and a couple of biker bars.
And, of course, there's your favorite lil Squeaker.... ;D!
Thunder puts out a hand drawn map of biker friendly establishments every rally. These businesses pay to be on the map so it's not just "lip service!"
I still have some of the maps from the Fall Rally. If anyone wants one, email me with your address or fax number and I'll send one out to ya. Don't know if I'll get the Spring ones in time to send out, but I will have them in my shop.
You're all welcome to stop in anytime - take a break and relax. There's a biker friendly bar & grill next to me, a deli on the other side, a grocery store and gas station across the street....heck, what do I need Myrtle Beach for???
Actually, I stopped spending in MB the moment I heard of the anti-rally sentiment. I still ride through to let them know they can't keep me out. Give their roads a bit of wear and tear, then keep heading south (or north) to do my shopping!
I agree with Freebird - everyone should come for the Spring Rally and show Myrtle Beach they can't intimidate us with their inane ordinances. Ride through town, smile and wave....and continue on to spend your money elsewhere!
Happy Thanksgiving to All!!

I'm not a biker (not by choice--hopefully we'll be able to get a HD in the next year or so), but I'm a full supporter of the HD rally and all bikers in Myrtle Beach. I have lived in the MB area (including being a property owner in the county) for 20 years. I spent many years, in the hospitality industry, and have so many friends that are going to be terribly hurt financially by Rhodes and this ridculous bs. I completely understand the boycott--and even more so the desire to ride through MB but not spend money there. I just wish that there was some way that the true majority of MB, the residents that support and welcome bikers, wouldn't have to suffer through the boycott. The restaurants and bars that have for years welcomed the HD rally, and do so now but can't control the council and mayor. Some of the people I know that don't depend on tourism wonder why I care--my family's income doesn't depend on whether the rally is held here or not, but how can we just forget the people that DO need the bikers and the income that the rally brings. How can they be helped until such a time as Rhodes can be voted out?

MB A very moving thread. Seems like the innocent are always the collateral damage. The local bikers are as well. This is one of those times where I think things are just going to have to play out.

mbresident:
You ARE a biker. You don't have to own a bike to be a biker - just have the biker heart!
I applaud your empathy for those who will suffer (bikers and businesses) due to the discriminatory actions of the city council.

Merry Christmas to everyone.
I'm beginning to plan some Spring Bike Week activities and don't want to spend any money within the Myrtle Beach City limits. My wife and I usually catch a couple of shows while we're there. I believe the Legends in Concert is in Surfside, but what about the Carolina Opry and Dixie Stampede? I know their mailing address says Myrtle Beach, but when I look at the map I have it may be outside the city limits. Can someone help me with this? Are there any other shows/events we should catch while we are visiting? Thanks John

The squeaker always has the lowdown. Softail there is a couple things Victoria and I have done that we enjoyed. Going to Georgetown is a neat ride and they have a boat that goes out to the lighthouse and shows some of the old rice plantations on the way out. Usually see some bald eagles on the way out and the restaurants are right good on the docks. A little longer ride is either Charleston or Wilmington. Wilmington has the Battleship NC and I think there is an Air Craft Carrier in Charleston. Always willing to go for a ride if anyone wants to. Will try and get more things like that on the site. Hope all had a Merry Christmas. First winter here and you just gotta love T-Shirts for Christmas

So far, I am still waiting to see a single picture from it! ;D But I like your idea of some recommended rides and local sites for visiting. Kinda like a travelogue. Perhaps a new page on the site? If you guys (or others with recommended rides) wanna put together some pictures and a page or so description of notable rides and local places to go, send them along and we can start working up guidebook like page... Mebbe for restaurants too, something a bit more detailed than the recommended section. Just a thought. -Bro1

Works for me. Sent some way cool pictures from Homestead but you said I was a low tech redneck and they would be grainy cause I didn't compress them or something so I guess I need picture/file 101. Got any openings in a couple of weeks ;D
