Well, I guess I was wrong again. I thought the business community would be well represented at today's BBQ. Far from it. Very few business owners were present. As usual, it was just a bunch of bikers with absolutely no financial stake in all this. What is wrong with these people?
They ask us to stop the Not A Dime IN '09 campaign and support them. I, and many of my fellow bikers were out in the hot sun and carrying signs and talking to people. These business owners weren't there supporting me. They are going to have to show me that they want me and my biker friends to visit them. So far, they are not doing a very good job.
Yes, there were a few and I applaud them for standing up. Where were the rest?

Geeze, thats a lot of the problem with society today. many want results, however few are willing to stand and demand results. The rest just assume that the loud and rowdy will speak loud enough for all. TOO few realize its not the loudness of voice that gets results, its the number of voices demanding results that make things happen

Geeze
That depends on how you see it. The business community is trying to survive and they will tell you that they were represented by both BOOST and HELP. Some one has to man what is left of the store. What I did notice was an increase in non bikers that were protesting and talking to the representatives outside and then went in. I am not going to name names but about 30 or so went in along with others. Some were bikers that had businesses in the City but others were not. At the end of the day I considered today one more nail in the Mayoral Coffin. And that is a good thing. We are stronger together.

We are stronger together. my only toughts on that is if they were truely speaking their mind when talking to the bikers or were they trying to play both sides not knowing who will win but wanting to say afterwards that they supporting the winning side all along. In some ways I can see their point of approach, but in a situation this harsh, they need to voice their true oppinion the whole way through, not be on the side of who they are talking to at the time. That is how Obama got elected. Every time he was speaking it was in the best interest of whoever was listening and asking questions at the time. That is not good politics. Just my opinion

BB I knew who some of the business people were and they were on the who's who list down here. They spent a bit of time with the Leaders of BOOST and HELP and looked like to me they were having a right nice chat.

I'm under the impression that the business owners think that if they rub elbows with the politicians and AR people that they'll somehow convince them to work on the Rally issues. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! They're all liars!

They're all liars! I think you are correct in your observation. The compromise train has left the station. I think the business owners will find this out and then as a whole need to man up or shut up. In the meantime it is not a Dime. And that train has left the station as well

I too was a little disappointed in yesterdays turnout. One thing it seemed to me a lot of people were more interested in seeing if they could "sneak in" and get the food, then showing up as pro-rally people. I drove 4 hours to be there and to me ,probably like the news media there weren't a lot of pro-rally,pro-business people there. After watching awhile then I could see many people there were on our side(for lack of a better term),but it was hard to tell. When the cameras were in the building it look full. Sure it did,but probably over half those people were anti-rhodes,but you couldn't tell. Of all the businesses that say they support the ralllies couldn't they have at least gotten one of thier employees ,mother, father, sister, brother or the family dog to show up for an hour wearing a HELP or BOOST shirt. I'm sure a lot of business owners were there,But I couldn't tell. They seemed more inclinded to rub elbows with the snobs then to hang out with THEIR suporters. Just my opinion

My read is that the Not A Dime In 09 campain has achieved some of its goals. About 500 members of the business community has joined what is being called a Biker/Rally supporter group ( BOOST ) HELP has formed as well. The business community has stepped up to the plate. At each protest I see more and more non Bikers showing up for the cause. The residents, the businesses, and the bikers all have issues altho not all the same. What I feel is the biggest common goal is to send Rhodes and his band of idiots packing so that no one tries this crap again down here. While I understand everyones frustration I ask all to go back a 8 months ago and ask yourself this question. Are we better off today. Bear in mind BOOST has spent over 100 thousand dollars in advertising bike week and legal fees with their lawsuit against the city. I am willing to give them some time. We said on our site 8 months ago we cannot win without the support of the business community and we believe it is true today. Just my 2 cents. We Are Stronger Together
