MB State Park Campground is just inside the city limits. You'll only have to go a few hundred yards south to be out of the city limits. Maybe after you get here you can evaluate everything and see if you feel lucky.

I just spoke to the dealrship. According to them, they have worked out the turn-around issue with the Highway Patrol. It is to be a safe zone for access from the south.

Not a Dime in '09 Wolf Thanks for the info. I am glad this was worked out before many people were dragged into this who have no dog in this fight. The Leo's have in my opinion done a great job for the 20 plus years I came here before moving here and it is a shame they are caught in the middle both those in the City and in this case those outside who are trying to do a good job keeping people safe. As the bird said, I am glad this was worked out. This turn around issue should tell a lot of people, both vacationers and the city council (well, maybe not), that they have completely isolated themselves from both the county and the state.
I hope that all the "vacationers" next week realize the importance of this gesture by the county and state officials.
To all riding down for their "vacation", be safe!

Not a Dime in '09 I still wouldn't trust MB. The HP won't care about helmets, they will have enough to do. The city police will be the ones to watch for. On the other hand, if the city allows helmetless riders to enter the city limits, even for a few yards to turn around, they are allowing people to break their laws. Could a good lawyer use this against them?

This looks like a good faith move on the part of MBPD. This is also the only spot that I was worried about the city limits for my exhaust, as well.... I hope they keep their word... Thanks for posting the info, Wolf.

I remain suspicious of MB for any cooperation they offer. Think MBPD will have no problem with the idea of a safe zone for turnaround, but I don't think the mayor and council can be trusted. They may at any time order them to enforce ordinances with a vengence

I was at the Harley dealership yesterday and one of the employees told me that a safety solution had been worked out between the Highway Patrol, County Police and Myrtle Beach to allow motorcycles to use the turnaround north of the dealership and that Myrtle Beach would not issue helmet tickets until a rider passed the traffic light at the intersection of hwy 17 and the old Air Force gate. We shall see. I just spoke to the dealrship. According to them, they have worked out the turn-around issue with the Highway Patrol. It is to be a safe zone for access from the south. Other then a few conditions Police in SC have discretion on writing almost any ticket. While I do not trust anything MB says as they have lied many times, even twice in court as I was there, I believe the police if they say it is a safe zone. They have bigger concerns then a unconstitutional helmet law. Beside if the City actions went against the SAFETY concerns of the HP and someone died as a result of an unconstitutiona helmet law I cant count that high as to the award. I would say it is a safe zone.
