Is there any way we can try to do something to assist the EMS groups that are saying they will have to cut back as they are losing money this time around? I mean yes, I will dial 911 for anyone in a heartbeat. but would be even nicer to know they have gas money and equipement to get there and save someone if the cuts are to bad how much longer of a wait? 200000 bikers 50 cents each would go along way. now i also know not all will do this some give alot more some give none but if we do a small part is this not in our own best intrest as well? forget public relations or maybe for them. is there anything we can try to do? even say go to a station house in our gear and stand boot to boot with these folks to help them raise money. maybe more bikers would give if anthoer biker was there asking along with an ems worker?

Sounds like a good idea to me if someone could organize it. EMS folks would probably do the organizing if someone suggested the idea. Probably wouldn't take more than posting some flyers and setting up some collection points. I know I am always willing to help the EMS people. You never know when some crazy might hit you and you need their help. Most bikers are quick to raise $ for a good cause anyway. What better cause than a financially struggling EMS unit that may save your life one day.

Called NMB Fire and talked to the Duty officer who referred me to the Chief. So far the Chief has not called me back. His name is Tom and I believe his last name if I spelled it right is Merso. The phone number I was given is 843-280-5512. I was surprised that I didn't get a call back.

I'm glad all is good with you and company.

Hey all. Just got back from Charleston so will get caught up. Some of us tried to volunteer but were told we needed Fire Training. Might have to see what it takes and if an old vet could accomplish such a task. Rolling Thunder gave some supplies cause it is just that kind of people in that organization. Past that have not been able to get many answers. The fire as I understand it is contained but things change daily. As a side note RT3 went to Charleston VA Hospital and made food for the residents there. I got the impression that most may not be coming home. Or put differently they are at their last home on this planet. We also went to Magnolia Gardens were many Civil War Veterans are buried. It is a must see for all veterans. From there we went to Patriot Point. All I can say is that if you are a veteran or support them the whole trip is a moving experience. Charleston is full of History and a weekend is not enough. If you have not had the Honor of going to a VA Hospital and visiting the residents you might want to consider it. The smiles you will give are not to be measured but to be cherished. I know I tagged someone The Outlaw Josie Whales and will ride down soon and say hi. I bet he is waiting for the Bird to come and share some life experiences. Turns out the Big Man was 2nd Division same as The Bird.

Would it be a good Idea for the local biker community to do some sort of charity drive, of some type, say to help collect money for the Red Cross, or in some way help the fire victims. Might get some positive PR for the people who dislike bikers so much...Just a thought

The TV news and newspaper will only do a fast clip about it.
