What we need in the front window of B&M Custom Cycle store is a big sign that says "Mayor Rhodes and City Council's Idea of Economic & Job Growth in Myrtle Beach"!

The AR crowd will be saying FUMB Ad, I think the anti croud are wealthy enough that they don't care how much the taxes are raised. my opinion is that they want to bankrupt most of the city so they can buy it for pennies on the dollar and resell just to get richer. Wealthy selfish gready people are like that. but thats just my opinion

If you were rich, why would you come here, especially in the winter months?

beach, that sort of fits into my speculated scenerio. the mayor wanting to "upscale" the entire city and push out the lower class. but hey, thats just a thought i had. I could be totally wrong. wouldn't be the first time.

I think that was the plan but after seeing Market Commons struggle, they may have to re-think it. The rich people are going somewhere where they can be seen by other rich people. The rich guy ain't going to wear a tank top and go to the All You Can Eat Buffet.

The redevelopment committee a year ago was talking about turning the old Pavilion area into a upscale shopping & restaurants to appeal to the rich and draw the elite all year long. If you were rich, why would you come here, especially in the winter months? I heard from multiple business owners that the Pavilion was sold and there are plans in the work to put a Casino there. But don't shoot the messenger if that doesn't pan out... There are too many problems with the downtown area to list in a single post. There is a prostitute, drug dealer or homeless person on every street corner. Buildings are getting tagged with graffiti and gang members are wearing colors on the blvd. The boardwalk project is on hold while money gets dumped into the money pit of a convention center and the ghetto beautification project. I think that was the plan but after seeing Market Commons struggle, they may have to re-think it. The rich people are going somewhere where they can be seen by other rich people. The rich guy ain't going to wear a tank top and go to the All You Can Eat Buffet. I disagree, I think Market Commons is one thing the city council has done right. The only business I've heard of having trouble down there is Piggly Wiggly. They are way overpriced and have to complete with two Walmarts. A 300 screen sports bar and a hotdog place (I think sams) are going into Market Commons in the near future. The person who did the horse carriage rides this winter will be back down there this summer. The city is holding events down there, they put a new gym in there, and they have redesigned Myers to make room for more ball fields. Ofcourse if house prices keep falling, and you have trash moving into the new houses... well, then it will have blown up in their face. Unfortunately, this has happened in other areas of the city.

A Casino? This is South Carolina, we don't have Casinos here. The Casino boats up in Little River have to be out of South Carolina waters before they can even start to gamble.

While Market Commons isnt me it has always reminded me of Georgetown in DC. I think it has a lot of potential but it will be a more selected crowd. While I like shooting in my back yard there are plenty that would like a planned town design and this was best I can see well done.
Just for the record there is some high paid well connected lobbiests for the Casino's working in SC. I have also been told do not be surprised to see a Casino there soon. Time will tell.
