Is it my imagination?
On TV and the radio I am seeing hype about "Bike Week" On the radio the County spokesperson reported on preparations being made in their area of operations. The other night on WBTW sort of the same thing with a concentration on the South Strand MI.
If I didn't know better I would think that the last year or so had never happened. Denial? Heads in the sand? praying (or preying) for money? Bi-Polar?

Mayor spoke and said no festival could ever replace BIKERS money...lol... As far as bike week , it will be locals mostly and City won't see a dime.....

General
They have went from an influx of 500,000 people spending an average according to the MBACC $114.00/day. I do not know the number of days spent but according to some it is the month of May. Either way all must have spent at least a day for the Chamber to put these numbers out so bottom line is 57 MILLION/DAY times the average days spent. To get this they spent NOTHING.
Now they spend 15 million to get a few festivals that will look good but will be mostly locals spending little staying home instead of filling the Motels which by the way are advertising $49.00 rooms. They will need to hire some more Russian Girls to count all the money. NC is being blasted daily on Radio for this special. Considering this I choose praying. It might take Devine Intervention to get me to come back.

Was out & about today this afternoon. One day before the May 7 start. Sunny & nice, saw a few out of town motorcycle tourists. Very little activity in the area of the HD dealer mostly 4 wheelers in the lot (usually one of the busiest spots).
The adjacent businesses (Iron Gate back to the HD dealer) showed little to no preparations, from the highway at least.
I hope the tourists know not to patronize businesses inside MB.

Both Iron Gate and the main Harley store can't have vendors until Monday. Was out & about today this afternoon. One day before the May 7 start. I thought I heard on the radio that the Iron Gate had not applied for any vendor permits as of quite late in the process. It did look as though they had moved some of their trailers so as to set up as a saloon.
