I find it odd that a decision has not been handed down yet. Keep your eyes peeled. Within the next 2 weeks

UPDATE: My (what has been totally reliable source all along) information received: Affected parties' attorneys tentatively to receive formal notification of the made decision between 10AM - 2PM today.
Formal PUBLIC (media release) announcement due early next week; possibly to be reconsidered depending on compromise of details of decision.
The written opinion that accompanies the decision - of WHY the particular decision was made and what was considered - was not even FINISHED until just over 2 weeks ago, as the SC Supreme Court wanted to be thorough in demonstrating that their decision was COMPLETE, FAIR, and PROPER, AND that they wanted to convey a "message" to the City of Myrtle Beach and any other municipality who creates such ordinances.
Unless something changes - THIS is the current plan, and how it will probably all go down...

Well here's my guess, ready for this?
The SC Supreme Court feels a need to punish and send a strong message to (Mayor little man and his clowns) for their arrogance, by not ruling until after both rallies are over, it will insure another financially dismal May for MB.
Maybe the Court is hoping the voters will be so pizzed at what [The Little Mayor and Clowns] have done to their city, they will all be voted out in upcoming elections.
IF, my theory is correct, we will be hearing from the Court within a couple of weeks
Then the Supreme Court would have the last laugh on "The Little Mayor"...

My word is that the Supreme Court decision will affect Home Rule among other things and scale back the Authority given to Cities under home rule. Smoking bans will probably be affected. Also Columbia is considering a repeal of the 1% add tax and has told no new add taxes in any other jurisdiction. They are expecting HUGE lawsuits from the illegal tax such as Carolina Forest and maybe Federal Intervention. Also don't forget what some say is an FBI investigation into RICO violations

...The SC Supreme Court feels a need to punish and send a strong message to (Mayor little man and his clowns) for their arrogance, by not ruling until after both rallies are over, it will insure another financially dismal May for MB. Maybe the Court is hoping the voters will be so pizzed at what [The Little Mayor and Clowns] have done to their city, they will all be voted out in upcoming elections... Well, one of the common topics I CONTINUE to hear from my friends in Columbia is how absolutely PO'd many state and local government officials are at how the City of Myrtle Beach's EXTREMIST/EXCESSIVE actions has cost the State of South Carolina a TON of tourism revenue - and, in turn, distributed funding for THEM to operate.
Apparently, attempts were made to relay this to the Supreme Court members for consideration in their decision - but the Supreme Court wanted to ENSURE that their actual decision was made ONLY on its on merits, but that the City of MB's actual versus CLAIMED motives WAS a proper factor to the cited TEXT in the opinion.
As recently as yesterday afternoon, I had someone in Columbia crying on my shoulder about this. I had to call the office of the state agency I'm affiliated with (many of you know who) to inquire about a WAY overdue administrative task on their end. I was reminded - AGAIN - about the "30% cuts in staff & funding", and told (once more) to "thank your illustrious leaders over there in Myrtle Beach for THEIR part to make that happen". By the way - one of the main reasons I was told about WHY the City of Myrtle Beach is NOT having a one-way traffic pattern this year, and groups of law enforcement personnel at every corner of Ocean Boulevard, is because of TWO MAIN REASONS:
- Most of the "outside" MUNICIPAL agencies who PREVIOUSLY came here to assist REFUSED to do so under the current regime of MB officials. - Most STATE agencies who previously contributed have either eliminated or reduced their support because of imposed funding cuts - with TOURISM DOLLARS LOST FROM OUR AREA being a SIGNIFICANT factor in those decisions.

Steve Porter has been cited reliable sources all morning... Just spoke with the wife - she was listening to them this morning. Seems that when she was listening, Steve was pretty much saying the same as what I posted; just Steve had less detail. What stood out to her was she said that Dave Priest was PRACTICALLY QUOTING many of the things I've been saying to various people in person, and posted about this topic and the "bike weeks" in general here and on the Sun News online, over the past few months. In particular: the REAL differences between Harley Rallies and "BikeFest", the ratio of "BikeFest" participants who are bikers versus non-bikers, etc. I know he reads my Sun News posts; I'm glad that at least HE points out some honest facts.

I thought 4 sure we would hear something by now.... Last I heard, the formal notification of the decision to the City of Myrtle Beach was delayed last Friday. The MAIN claimed reason?: If the city HAD been formally notified - then any helmet tickets written BETWEEN then and when the MEDIA announcement would be made would be even MORE controversial. In other words, imagine this scenario: City of MB receiveds formal notification on Friday, biker gets cited on SATURDAY/SUNDAY/MONDAY (DURING AB "BikeFest", media announcement made on Tuesday or Wednesday. The cited biker(s) could have claimed that the city had ALREADY been notified of the decision - yet wrote citation(s) anyway. What a LEGAL CLUSTERFART THAT would have been... Secondary to that is the fact that this past Monday was a holiday, which also threw off the SC State Supreme Court and its affiliated offices' normal schedule of activities. What an ABSOLUTE MESS the City has caused, hasn't it?

Seems this is just like Liz Gilland and all her court dates that come and go, there is always some lame excuse as to why it hasn't been resolved.
