I just learned today (from the Un News) that the marathon does NOT need to get a special event permit from the city.
What the what?

From what I know about the special event permits is if the "city" sponsors it then the events permit thing is null.
That is how the city got around the car show last year. Many of those cars were well above the noise ordinance level.

Same scenario at the Mayor's lunch at the train station. Of course everyone was invited, unless you were a Biker...

Many of those cars were well above the noise ordinance level. But the article in the paper yesterday said that the city did NOT sponsor the marathon, yet it did NOT require a special events permit. So I guess they make up whatever rules they want.

They may not have sponsored the event, but I think they co-sponsored the event. And if you look at the way the ordinance is written, I think it says in there "a city sponsored, co-sponsored or sanctioned event". At least I think it was something like that.

I wish I had saved the article in the paper because, according to the Un News, they specifically stated that it was NOT sponsored by the city. Then again, that paper is wrong day in/day out.
