Good morning, everyone!
We thought it was about time we joined the board. We're looking forward to taking part in all the discussions. We're proud to support the Myrtle Beach Bike Rallies. As far as we're concerned, tourists of all kinds and walks of life are welcome.

"With close to 14 Million people visiting Myrtle Beach"
I wonder how long before they change that # to 3 or 4 million?
It's just some business sucking up to bikers...

I've always questioned those numbers. 14 million people a year equates to 269,000 a week EVERY SINGLE WEEK of the year. The "big weeks" are bike week, sun fun (well, in it hey day) and 4th of July. Those "big weeks" used to have 250,000 to 400,000 for a few weeks. How on earth can they continue to claim 14M when there is NO WAY we have 269k people EVERY SINGLE WEEK of the year. What, is someone from Conway going to the beach for the day considered a tourist? Even at that, there is NO WAY they average 269k people EVERY SINGLE week of the year.

I just went to their web site and tried to register as a new member to check it all out and it came up as an error, thought it was wrong so I signed on thru my neighbors router, ie: different IP address and got the same thing. I think someone at discover mb realized that we would figure it was a suck-up or kiss a$$ to the biker community and may have turned that part of their web site off!! Attachments:

Bikergal, Have you ever heard a fisherman tell a story about the one that got away, each time he tells the story the fish gets BIGGER & BIGGER & BIGGER, That's what they do with the tourist numbers...It's a fish story...

As far as the 14 million that number has been used for years and even in its heyday those numbers were questioned. If they were right when put out they are certainly inflated now according to those who would have a knowledge of those numbers being up or down when compared to past business.
Discovermb is a great site and is run by a friend of mine. They have had open and honest reporting of a number of things and I welcome them to the boards. Post what you like or may just be of interest. We are stronger together.
