Hey everybody, Okay, as most of you know, we are yankees from Pa. Up here we have the option of wearing the skid lid while riding. But this is about the bicycles. Again, we have the option to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle. Now up here, if you are drinking and hop on your motorcycle, you can get a DUI. But you can also get one if you ride your bike! The police say that you are under the power of your self. So you are then considered a powered two-wheeled vehicle! Weird, isn't it. Does anybody know of someone down there that has gotten a DUI for riding a bicycle? If yes, then shouldn't a bicyclists be required to wear a helmet within the city of Myrtle Beach? And wouldn't that helmet have to be DOT approved? I think it should have to be by the way they wrote their new ordinances. What does everybody else think?

Keith & Carol Haven't heard of anyone getting a DUI on a bicycle yet. Golf carts are a different story though. Title 56-2-100 of the South Carolina Code of Laws covers Low Speed Vehicles. They must comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 500 Part 49 Section 571.500. Farm Equipment 56-1-2070C are exempt.Would seem to me if the City is truly interested in Safety as they say that both Golf Carts and Bicycles should have to meet the same helmet requirements and safety regulations as Motorcycles. I bet the posts in the Sun News ( Un News ) would be a lot different if the Grey Haired Gremlins had to wear helmets and go through checkpoints while riding their Golf Carts. Blessings Freebird
